Who are the ten best Harry Potter characters?

Okay so it's a top eleven. Ten was just impossible.

While Elsie and I are both deeply uncomfortable with having a baddie in our top ten (eleven) there is just no getting away from the fact that Bellatrix is AMAZING!

Sirius Black seems like he's really really bad. But actually he's really really good. He showed Elsie that people are not always what they seem, when she was about five, and that was a big deal.

He earns his place on this list for "I WOULD HAVRE DIED!" alone.

Hagrid is kind. Hagrid is funny. Hagrid is wonderful. And he delivers the line "Harry - yer a wizard." And then he cooks sausages.

Luna makes being very weird very cool. And she doesn't care what anyone thinks about her, whilst being kind to everyone. She is a truly great role model.

From "Not many first year students could take on a fully grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. Five points will be awarded to each of you, for sheer dumb luck." to "And Potter... It's good to see you." she is MAGNIFICENT. But her crowning moment will always be "Piertotum Locomotor."

Molly Weasley is the epitome of love to her whole family, biological and adopted. She dedicates her life to looking after other people. But when forced to, she unleashes terrifying power beyond everyone's wildest expectations. She is a spectacularly powerful witch and she was capable of that all along. But loving her children was just more important.

Oh how do we love Hermione? Let us count the ways. We love her love of books; we love her loyalty to her friends; we love that she is so clever; we love that she is so brave; we love that, quite frankly, she is the one keeping everyone else alive. Honestly, we could do a listicle on all the reasons that Hermione Granger is the greatest.

Her best moments are "You've got dirt on your nose, by the way. Did you know? Just there." on the Hogwarts Express, "Stop it! Can't you see it's bothering him." sticking up for Neville with Mad-Eye Moody, and "I've got something, but it's mad!" in Gringotts. As role models go, this girl is in a calibre all of her own.

Neville is a loser. But he is a brave and wonderful loser, who makes being a loser cool. And that is why we love him.

Mad-Eye is a tricky one, because for a lot of the time he is in the story, he is not actually Mad-Eye - and it is the biggest plot hole is the whole series that you completely fall in love with a character who is not actually that character at the time. But he is still awesome.

When Elsie finished reading the Harry Potter series for the first time, she said "Do you know what I'd like mummy? To read the whole story again from Snape's point of view."

What can we say about Snape? He was probably the bravest man I ever knew.

Over to you Elsie. I have no idea what she is doing on this list. Let alone at this high place. But apparently "She has ginger hair. And she is awesome." is all the explanation that is required.
