I have found making business resolutions is just about as effective as making personal ones: they begin with good intentions, but often fall short of actually coming true. In fact, studies have found that small business owners break almost 90 percent of their New Year's resolutions within two months. Why?

Sometimes, life calls us to do something really radical. If we don't, life may continue on just the way it always has been: busy. Restless. Uninspired.

We need to stop. Pause. We need to step out of busy -- and set our hearts free.

We need to hear God's whispers intimately. For you.

I was intrigued by the idea of one word providing the focus and inspiration for my work and for my life and began to reflect on what my one word would be. Then just as I paused before crossing an intersection on my run, I had my #oneword2016: SERVE!

What will guide your steps this New Year? Allow your One Word to keep you moving in the direction God will have you go. And may God be enough for you!

In reflecting back on 2015 and preparing for 2016, it was very difficult to narrow down the most applicable words to describe my current leadership role, my responsibilities, and my life in general...
