The Johns Hopkins Nephrology Fellowship Program is one the nation’s premier renal training programs. The goal of the program is to educate physicians to be clinically outstanding nephrologists, skilled in investigative methods and teaching, and capable of life-long learning. This goal is accomplished through rigorous clinical training in nephrology and through abundant opportunities for professional development through programs geared towards individuals interested in clinical practice, education, and investigation at the Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Through the ISN Fellowship Programs, Fellows from emerging countries get individual and hands-on training in their selected host institutions. They return home with new skills and knowledge in basic and clinical nephrology, dialysis, transplantation, epidemiology. They improve treatment, teach and train others and become future leaders in the developing world.

The program offers an excellent balance of formal, informal, and independent education, with ample exposure to both clinical nephrology and research. Mission Statement

Nephrology and Hypertension Fellowship Training Program provides outstanding nephrology training in all aspects of clinical practice, research and education at the three training sites: University Hospitals Case Medical Center, MetroHealth Medical Center and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. This integrated program offers intensive clinical experience through exposure to all aspects of nephrology in a diverse patient population.

The program supports 4 fellows in its ACGME accredited two-year fellowship. Program has a strong focus on clinical nephrology as well as an opportunity to participate in clinical research. We are proud of our 100% Nephrology Board pass rate. There are ample opportunities to participate in student and resident education, preparing you for a potential academic career.

There are some one-year fellowships offering advanced training in various aspects of nephrology. These listings may not be complete; they were provided by the training programs. Please note that ASN does not necessarily promote or endorse these programs; it is up to the applicant to determine if these programs are of suitable quality.

The Division of Nephrology offers a one-year fellowship position as a PGY-6 to an individual interested in an academic career in interventional nephrology. The successful candidate will be able to perform all the procedures that this training provides, plus will benefit from research opportunities in vascular access and teaching activities. Faculty mentors from nephrology and interventional radiology will provide teaching and mentoring for the candidate.

The Duke Nephrology fellowship training program excels in all aspects of nephrology, including renal replacement therapy, glomerular disorders, electrolyte abnormalities, transplantation, hypertension, education, global health, informatics, and clinical and basic science research. U.S. News and World Report ranked Duke Nephrology #9 in the nation in 2014.

The Mayo Clinic Nephrology Fellowship Program provides outstanding nephrology training in all aspects of clinical practice, research and education. Opportunities in these three areas enable the curriculum to be individually designed to meet the specific goals of future investigative or clinical nephrologists.

A major purpose of the Stanford Nephrology training program is to prepare trainees for a career in academic medicine. The standard program is 2 years in duration and comprises 1 year of training in clinical general and transplant nephrology and 1 year of research or another year of clinical training. The individual who desires more intensive research, additional training is offered. The program is ACGME accredited.

Section of nephrology here at Yale has continued to grow, and has always prioritized our three part mission of excellence in nephrology education, clinical practice and research. We are dedicated to training of future leaders in nephrology. We believe that leadership in both the areas of clinical nephrology and nephrology research go hand in hand, but often have different training goals. To that end, Yale has two separate fellowship tracks. One designed to produce academic leaders in clinical nephrology, and one designed to produce leaders in either basic science of clinical nephrology research.

The Nephrology Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston is a fully accredited ACGME training program. We accept candidates who have completed three years of residency training in Internal Medicine. Our goal is to train fellows to provide compassionate care to patients with a variety of kidney diseases and to mold them into becoming clinician educators in the future. The Nephrology fellowship program consists of two years of training. The first year emphasizes clinical training through consult service rotations at the John Sealy Hospital and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Hospital.

Nephrology focuses on disorders of the kidney, including those that affect kidney function, kidney stone formation, fluid and electrolyte homeostasis, and regulation of blood pressure. Additional information can be found through the American Society of Nephrology at www.asn-online.org.

As one of the leading nephrology training programs in the country, Indiana University Medical Center provides a challenging environment for fellows to excel. Our program's strength lies in its balance. The fellows manage a mixture of common and rare renal diseases due to the diverse patient population.

The Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program is a three-year program designed to train pediatricians by providing the necessary clinical and research skills to enable them to pursue an academic career in pediatric nephrology.

The Nephrology Fellowship Program is a multi-year fellowship allowing for individualized training in clinical nephrology, hypertension, transplantation and basic/clinial research. In addition to ranking the VCU Medical Center number one in Virginia, US News & World Report ranks the Division of Nephrology as 41st in the nation for 2013.

The Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship program benefits from a strong multidisciplinary clinical program that partners a wealth of expertise from specialized nurses (dialysis, transplant and clinic), nurse practitioners, social workers, dietitians and physicians. With support from an NIH training grant since 1991, our fellowship program is dedicated to training academic pediatric nephrologists who are committed to careers with significant teaching and research activities.

The Nephrology Fellowship Training Program has ten fellows divided between research and clinical tracks. The ABIM requires a minimum of 24 months training with at least 12 months involved in direct patient care. Currently, our clinical fellows do a minimum of 15 months of clinical activity with the option to do more during their elective time. Clinical fellows are also expected to participate in research during their elective months. Research fellows participate in the NIH T32 training grant for a total of three years with 24 months of research and 12 months of clinical time.

The University of Louisville has an active, ACGME accredited Fellowship Program, which leads to certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Our goal is to train superb clinical nephrology consultants to practice in the community and physician scientists to join the academic community of scholars.

The Nephrology Fellowship Program at UCSF prepares fellows for careers in academic nephrology, clinical nephrology, and medical education. Our graduates have also pursued additional fellowship training in kidney transplantation. For selected candidates, we offer a combined general nephrology/transplant nephrology fellowship pathway or adult/pediatric nephrology fellowship training with the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at UCSF. The training program has three tracks: basic research scientist, clinical research scientist, and clinician educator.
