In 2015, Hollywood had some great thoughts on female characters and did not hesitate to bring them forward. We saw some exciting performances by Hollywood actresses in a number of films, here is a list of the 10 best performances.
1
Brie Larson
Movie : "Room"
Larson is garnering raves for her work and if the TIFF awards says anything, its that she's a contender to win the prize.
2
Cate Blanchett
Movie : "Carol"
Blanchett turned in three great performances this year: "Carol," "Truth," and "Cinderella" showing her force within the industry. She'll definitely receive a nomination this year, the question is, for what film?
3
Saoirse Ronan
Movie : "Brooklyn"
The reviews from Sundance were exceptional for Ronan's work. Previous nominee that continues to show that she's an incredible talent.
4
Jennifer Lawrence
Movie : "Joy"
"Joy" did not perform well with critics based on the first wave of reviews but she was well-regarded. She's the likely frontrunner for the Golden Globe but she missed SAG (either to reviews or not seeing it in time).
5
Sarah Silverman
Movie : "I Smile Back
Is this just a case of Robin Wright for "She's So Lovely" or does this show actual support for her performance, which is liked by many? It's a very small film but she can go the way of Jennifer Aniston last year and just miss out in the end.
6
Charlotte Rampling
Movie : "45 Years"
LAFCA winner who is magnificent in the role. Could Rampling jump in front of her colleagues who are in wider seen films? GG and SAG were misses (but so was Emmanuelle Riva and she made it).
7
Blythe Danner
Movie : "I'll See You In My Dreams"
First screener of the year and Gwyneth Paltrow's Mom to boot. She may pull a Bruce Dern this year. The campaign is getting ready to explode for her.
8
Helen Mirren
Movie : "Woman in Gold
Surprise SAG nominee and has heat for "Trumbo" on her side as well. Is she a possible double nod threat?
9
Carey Mulligan
Movie : "Suffragette"
She's one of the hottest stars on the planet. She'll be a huge financial success with the last "Hunger Games" and teamed back up with David O. Russell is what they love best. Is it Russell/Lawrence overkill though?
10
Charlize Theron
Movie : "Mad Max: Fury Road"
Wishful thinking or will Academy not be able to deny that she's F*cking amazing in the role? I hope its the latter.
