Identify your energy-sucking apps

Identify your energy-sucking apps

If you have an iPhone 6 or 6 plus, you should be okay with your battery life since Apple created their latest versions with a stronger battery. However, there still could be "culprits" or apps that will most likely be sucking the life out of your iOS device.

Apple has installed a feature for you to see how much battery usage each app is using. Delete apps you don't need or just close out the ones that you do need, but may not need to have open and running all of the time.

2

Disable Background App Refresh

Although Background App Refresh allows you to run apps in the background while you multi-task by continually refreshing content when running on wifi or your cellular network, it's draining your battery life along the way.

You can either disable Background App Refresh altogether, or you can disable it on certain apps. Either of these options will help save your battery life. To disable this feature, just go to Settings > General >Background App Refresh, and choose what you want to disable from there.

3

Take it easy with widget notifications

By swiping down from the top of your iOS device, you can pull down your Today menu and customoize your notifications from there. Why should you do this? Some of these widgets actually poll data frequently and it's quite taxing on your battery.

You can select which widgets you want to enable and which ones you'd like to keep at bay by tapping the "Edit" button at the bottom of the Today screen.

4

Reduce Motion by shutting down parallax

A lot people like how Apple's parallax feature makes it seem like the wallpaper moves behind the apps, but it can also make some people dizzy. This feature is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to draining your battery life.

You can disable it by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion, and switch to "on" status.

5

Location-tracking apps

Whenever you need directions and need to find a business or service, location-tracking apps can be quite useful, but these apps are eating away hours of your battery life. You can disable this feature completely by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

You can also turn off certain apps and leave your key apps running to help preserve the life of your battery. This option is highly recommended because you can choose based on your personal preference and need.
