Getting locked out at at the wrong time

Most of us have misplaced or lost our house keys at some time or other. It is annoying and will either cost us money or extra time to sort out the situation. But timing is everything and there are some times when getting locked out is even more of an inconvenience than normal. Here are some of those times, and some tips on how to avoid them.

1

When you have something cooking

Have you ever decided to cook something special only to realise in the middle of preparations that one of the most essential ingredients is missing? No one is home to help you out so it's down to you to sort out this matter. So here is the word of warning. Take it easy. Don't get stressed. Rushing around in a panic may make you forgetful and if those keys get forgotten that meal is going to be a disaster. Concentrate on collecting your thoughts, your new shopping list, your wallet and your keys and it will all work out fine.

2

When you aren't suitably dressed

Many of us feel the need to put the bins out or call in the dog from the garden in our nightwear. After all no one will see us. Yes it is convenient, but what happens if the door shuts behind you? If you are going to leave the house for a short spell, take your keys with you - or make sure your neighbours have a spare set. They don't want to be subjected to your new Onesie while you wait for the locksmith to arrive. It's embarrassing for both of you.

When you have guests arriving

Your keys can sense when they are important to you. That's why they hide in the bottom of your bag when it’s heavily raining. But you have invited friends over. It seemed like a great idea. Shame you cannot get in the house. If they are good friends maybe one of them will have a key to hand? If not then just enjoy entertaining them on the doorstep while you wait for the locksmith to arrive. They might find it fun (provided it isn't raining).

At Christmas

Perhaps the most frustrating time to get locked out is during the festive season. This is for several reasons. Firstly, you're probably meant to be going somewhere and you don't have much time; secondly, the people who would normally come to your aid, or hold your spare keys, may be out celebrating themselves so cannot help you; and thirdly, many locksmiths in your area may be closed for the holidays. Where do you go? If Santa cannot come to your rescue with his magic key, then you need to call an emergency locksmith. Available 24/7 all times of the year, an emergency locksmith will be there faster than the red suited man himself.
