Once you have found a suitable venue to hold your next big event, one of your next important tasks will be to think about which seating style will best suit your audience and enhance their experience. There are a number of reasons why tiered seating is extremely popular at events for audiences of 100 or 100,000 or more.
As long as tiered temporary seating is pointing in the right direction, it can be well suited to practically any event. For a meeting or product launch, ideally, seats are forward facing, towards the front of the room. However, tiered seat is also commonly laid out in a ‘U’ or horseshoe shape in a larger room, allowing as many people as possible to benefit from a good view of a stage.
A huge benefit of choosing tiered seating for your event is that less floor space is needed. As each row of seats is higher than the row of seats immediately in front, less leg room is needed. The result of this is that although event seating takes up a lot of space in terms of height, the actual floor space is much less than if the same amount of seats had been installed on the floor. In some cases, both tiered seats and rows of floor level seats may also be used to provide the maximum capacity.
Some events are better seen from above, for example, sports matches or central stages. In these cases, when the audience is large, temporary seating can be built all the way around a stage or a pitch, providing a good view from all angles. It’s essential to get the height of each tier just right to ensure that no view is blocked by the row of seats directly in front.
Temporary seating structures are usually constructed from frameworks of lightweight yet durable, corrosion free aluminium. Parts can be transported easily and then slotted together; once the event is over, seating units can then be taken apart and packed away for transport. Seats are often manufactured from comfortable yet hardwearing materials such as polypropylene, so they have be used time and time again without being damaged.
