Canada's New PM: Interesting Facts about Justin Trudeau

Canada just elected a new Prime Minister this week and he's definitely captivating. Justin Trudeau has a famous father, a fascinating mother, and a smart platform. The election was surprising and so is his history. Here are some interesting facts about the new PM.

He is Pro-Choice

"Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is defending his party's pro-choice position after a graphic anti-abortion flyer was distributed to Canadians with his face pictured beside a photo of a fetus. The flyer, being spread across Canada, is part of the Campaign Life Coalition and the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform's #No2Trudeau campaign."

Trudeau stood by women's rights and remained pro-choice in the face of protest.

His parents were famous in politics and pop culture.

"Watch Margaret Trudeau's interview with Toronto Star senior writer, Susan Delacourt. November 10, 2010 at Toronto Reference Library. This clip is part 1 of 8, and an interview about Margaret's latest book Changing My Mind. The next seven clips should pop up in succession."

The popularity of Justin Trudeau's parents extended past the political realm. His mother is as fascinating as his father. They're loved and remembered.

Haida leaders 'proud' of Justin Trudeau's stylized raven tattoo

"While Haida leaders may not be pleased every time a white guy gets a tattoo based on one of their designs, the large stylized raven on the shoulder of Prime minister-designate Justin Trudeau gets a pass. "The fact that the prime minister has Haida art on him ..."

The Nicest Guy in the Room

Justin Trudeau is nothing like the caricature his opponents created-and that's why he won

Canada's new prime minister says he is "proud to be a feminist"

"This post has been corrected. Identifying as a feminist may be more and more commonplace if you're a millennial or Taylor Swift, but it's still pretty rare to see politicians describe themselves thus. But Canada's newly elected prime minister, 43-year-old Justin Trudeau, doesn't seem to have that problem."

It's exciting to see a politician discuss issues like GamerGate and take them seriously. It's the first time I've heard a PM openly state they're a feminist, and it is refreshing to hear it from that corner.

He's an Actor

The Great War is a CBC television film documenting Canadian participation in the First World War. The film stars Justin Trudeau and was shown on Canadian television during the 90th Anniversary of the Vimy Ridge battle, airing in two parts on April 8 and April 9, 2007.

Trudeau was the protagonist, Talbot Papineau, in a Canadian made film called "The Great War".

Justin Trudeau anointed by Richard Nixon - at four months old

"Even as a baby, great things were expected of Justin Trudeau, who has just been elected Canada's prime minister, ending a decade of conservative rule. Richard Nixon predicted Trudeau's rise to high office in 1972 during a state visit to Ottawa, when the winner of Canada's 2015 federal election was just four months old."

Apparently, Nixon is a psychic.
