STEAM Learning

There is a lack of understanding among critical stakeholders about the impact of STEAM learning. To combat this, we will create a PreK-12 student-voiced PSA that shares the value of what STEAMers are doing and reflecting on the process. This will be shown to administration, parents, other teachers, and the greater community. Promoting Database Use

Students would use databases more if they were more discoverable and accessible. Here's how we can help that happen. Click on this slidedeck! See Google Doc for more information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GLdQBTlSWX4Mh5f1k-uYA5tK7wIXkK65zto7gb6Nsz0/edit?usp=sharing

Listen!! We are diverse readers and we need to hear and see our diversities. In order to recognize and respect the diversity of young people in our schools, and in order to ensure their voices are heard at all levels, we recommend that the publishers, ALA, AASL, state, districts, schools and the world around them recognize children as young readers and prominent voices and put them on the selection, review and reconsideration committees at all levels.

Children should hear 30 million words before they enter kindergarten. Parents need access to books, quality read alouds and we need want to partner in promoting early literacy with the free little librarian. By offering parents access to books while shopping, you are providing language nutrition- you can help bridge that gap. Feed the body, feed the mind.

In a digital world, you need an expert guide. Let the library media specialist be the connection to student achievement. We will acquire the resources needed and collaborate with the teachers to use these limited resources effectively to provide equal access to for all students, to provide maximum value for the district.

Librarians need more guidance! Our team would like to propose a tool to provide more structure to the library program. We know that library programs would really benefit from a framework tied to a scope and sequence to guide librarians in the daily lesson planning. Beyond the framework to inform librarians about the overall goals of their library program, we feel it would be extremely helpful to have a tool that simplifies the process of curating digital content into useful text sets.
