Fractals? We're talking about fractals? Yes, yes we are. Recently, I took the family to the Kalamazoo Valley Museum to see their Fractals as Art exhibit...along with all of the other great stuff they have there. I have always thought fractals were pretty interesting, and seeing the results in various forms is always pretty compelling.
Autodesk Inventor 2012: 2D to 3D Autodesk Labs has released an updated version of the 2D to 3D tool for Autodesk Inventor 2012. This video shows a simple example of how the 2D to 3D tool can be used to convert a 2D drawing quickly and easily into an intelligent 3D component.
A question that came in regarding a customer who had a very large Filestore. They wanted to know if it is possible to split the filestore over several disks. Vault only supports placing the filestore on a single volume.

This post is an adjunct the Shaker Table series, and describes how to grab a decimal number from an Inventor Parameter, round that number to the nearest specified fraction, then pass that new number to a new parameter that will make its way to a Cutlist.What is happening here is that the model is reporting a length from a driven dimension which can have quite a few numbers after the decimal point.
The Problem: Quite a few years have gone by since Autodesk introduced Inventor, which is now a global leader in 3D design, replacing Mechanical Desktop (MDT). Mechanical Desktop has been sent into retirement and is no longer supported by Autodesk and subscription licensing agreements for 2009 are coming due this year, creating data migration challenges for those organizations still using MDT.
