India's famous and largest sugar Industries

In today's commodities if we talk about sugar industry, it really goes high. Demand is rising day by day that results imbalance in supply-production chain. Price of sugar has been raised many times. But it is still in demand with high rates. All this depend on cultivation and production of sugarcane in the fields.

MUMBAI India, the world's second biggest sugar producer after Brazil, is likely to churn out a surplus for the sixth straight year despite erratic rainfall in key growing areas, a leading industry body said in its preliminary estimate on Friday. The south Asian country is likely to produce 28 million tonnes in the 2015/16 year starting Oct.

MUMBAI India's biggest sugar producing state, Maharashtra, approved a subsidy of 1,000 rupees per tonne for raw sugar exports, a senior state government official said, in an attempt to reduce inventory that has depressed local prices. Exports from India, the world's second-biggest producer and largest consumer, would put pressure on global prices that are struggling to revive from six-year lows.

After Brazil, India is the largest sugar producer in the world and it leads in sugarcane production. However, if alternative sweeteners such as khandsari (sort of raw sugar) and gur (jaggery) are included in the fold, then India would be the largest overall producer of sugar.

SUGAR INDUSTRY IN INDIA Sugar is produced by pressing out the juice from sugarcane & then boiling it into crystals. This process was developed in India around 500 BC. The sugarcane cultivation is believed to have originated in New Guinea, and was spread along routes to Southeast Asia and India.

There were two recent significant events in the world of sugar. First, the Supreme Court upheld the Allahabad High Court's order to force sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh to sell sugar stocks to pay arrears to sugarcane farmers.
