For some of these duos, they have also worked on a film or two together. Could there be a little bit of a rivalry between the two? One always has done a little bit better than the other, whether its an extra Academy Award or a high grossing film. Perhaps the hottest brother and sister pair in Hollywood today, Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal also have the talent to back up their looks. Maggie played Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight and was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Crazy Heart (2009), while her younger brother Jake received accolades for his Academy Award-nominated performance as Jack in Brokeback Mountain (2005).
As one of the highest paid and most recognizable actresses in the world, Julia Roberts is nearly synonymous with Hollywood. But her older brother Eric is no slouch himself, known for the edgy and intriguing roles he's performed over a span of decades, including his Oscar-nominated role of Buck in 1985's Runaway Train.
Between Shirley MacLaine and her young brother Warren Beatty, the Academy Awards have been extremely generous to them. MacLaine has been nominated five times, with a win for Best Actress in 1986 for Terms of Endearment. The name Fonda is sometimes synonymous with the Hollywood left, especially Jane Fonda. However, both she and her younger brother Peter are amazing actors in their own right, with both receiving multiple Oscar nominations, but Jane nabbed two of them during her lustrous career. The two worked once together in the film, Spirits of the Dead (1968).
While both Penny and Garry Marshall have appeared both in front of the camera, perhaps just as known for what they've done while behind it. Penny best known for being half of the TV duo Laverne and Shirley, but she also directed A League of Their Own (1992) and Big (1988). Her older brother Garry was the director of one of the most famous romantic comedies of all time, Pretty Woman (1990).
If there were ever the Hollywood equivalent of a Mafia family, it would most likely be the Coppolas. Of course this is in some way related to their involvement with one of the best Mafia movies of all time, The Godfather (1972). Francis Ford Coppola directed the great film, and his younger sister, Talia Shire, played the Mafia princess Connie Corleone.
