The list of iPhone devices in category 1 supports latest iOS version released by Apple i.e. IOS 8.4. On the other hand the list of iPhone devices in category 2 are obsolete i.e. they cannot run latest version of iOS released by Apple since the hardware is not compatible with features released in iOS.
