Carrer del Poeta Cabanyes, 25

Carrer del Poeta Cabanyes, 25

Bar Quimet & Quimet - quartier Poble Sec

With its high walls lined top-to-bottom with a colorful array of bottles, the tiny Quimet & Quimet, a charming tapas bar in El Poble Sec, could easily be mistaken for just another wine shop. But step inside this culinary cabinet of wonders, one of the most famous and beautiful bodegas de tapas in Barcelona, and you will be magically whisked into another world of edible and drinkable delights. - See more at: http://www.culinarybackstreets.com/barcelona/2013/quimet-quimet/

Carrer de Sant Pau, 65

Bar Marsella - quartier du Raval (barrio xino)

Bar Marsella is one of the oldest bars in Barcelona and it is rumoured that Dali, Picasso, and even Gaudi used to gather at this bar for good company, drinks, and inspiration. Today Bar Marsella is popular amongst both locals and tourists.
Bar Marsella is famous for its absinthe, a drink that some would call vial. However, many of the bartenders claim it is the most popular drink regardless of its strong taste and green colour. Absinthe has remained the bars most popular beverage for hundreds of years.

EL JARDI BARCELONA - Carrer de l'Hospital, 56 (Raval)

EL JARDI BARCELONA - Carrer de l'Hospital, 56 (Raval)

There is something genuinely satisfying about discovering a calm leafy oasis concealed behind busy city streets, and to find an outdoor restaurant there is a surprising bonus. At El Jardi, you can relax in the courtyard of the Biblioteca Catalunya (formerly the venerable Hospital de Santa Creu, which dates from 1401) and enjoy tapas and wine surrounded by olive trees, palms and the sunbaked stone walls of this quiet square.

TANTARANTANA - Carrer Tantarantana, 24 (Sant Pere La Ribera/El Born)

TANTARANTANA - Carrer Tantarantana, 24 (Sant Pere La Ribera/El Born)

Surrounded as it is by the furiously fashionable front-line nuclei of nueva cocina española – the new Spanish cuisine – this spot is a refreshing contrast. There is something comforting about the old-style marble-top tables, upon which you can sample simple but well-prepared dishes such as risotto or grilled tuna served with vegetables and ginger. There's also a long list of tapas. It attracts a 30-something crowd who enjoy the outdoor seating in summer.

FEDERAL CAFE - Carrer del Parlament, 39 (Sant Antoni/Poble Sec)

FEDERAL CAFE - Carrer del Parlament, 39 (Sant Antoni/Poble Sec)

The Plaça Sortidor, in Poble Sec, has several places to choose from, including the handsome El Sortidor restaurant. Its history dates back to 1908 when it supplied the ice for the rest of the neighbourhood. By the Forties, the Janiu family were serving vermut and anchovies, and as looks go, she’s still a cracker. The fridges are still there, right behind the bar, along with pretty stained glass windows, original Modernista wooden doors and marble tables lit by softly glowing lanterns. It’s a great place to take a date, but equally good for a menú, especially as this unseasonably warm October continues and you can sit out in the shade of the plane trees for lunch or dinner.
