Issues - VA Scandal

[10/24/15] Hillary on VA - "Scandals are not widespread"

(ConcernedVetsNews) -- (19:35) RACHEL: Do you have any new ideas for trying to fix it (VA)? There you can't find a person in politics who doesn't say that we shouldn't do right by our veterans. But for some reason this can't get fixed fast enough.

HILLARY: Yeah and I don't understand that. I don't understand why we have such a problem because there have been a number of surveys of veterans, and overall, veterans who do get treated are satisfied with their treatment.

RACHEL: Much more so than people in the regular system.

HILLARY: That's exactly right. Now nobody would believe that from the coverage you see and the constant berating of the VA that comes from the Republicans, in - in part in pursuit of this ideological agenda that they have.

RACHEL: But in part that there has been real scandal.

HILLARY: There has been

But it’s not been as widespread as it has been made out to be.

(21:28 - in FULL INTERVIEW)

HILLARY: Here's perfect example of the way the Republicans try to have it both ways. They try to create a downward spiral. Don't fund it to the extent that it needs to be funded because we want it to fail so we can argue for privatization.

[7/1/15] VA to Iraq war vet: 'We're not accepting any new patients'

(USA Today) -- Iraq war veteran Chris Dorsey figured that no one would believe he had been turned away from a U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs clinic when he sought an appointment for post-traumatic stress disorder. So when he went on Tuesday to another facility, the VA Oakwood, Georgia, Community Based Outpatient Clinic, he flipped on his smartphone camera.

"We're not accepting any new patients — not this clinic," the VA employee behind the desk says, without providing any extra information, assistance or guidance for treatment.
