These unique 5 blade kitchen herb shears should be a staple in any kitchen. Those time consuming details of trying to chop fresh herbs while a sauce is on the stove or a dish is in the oven is now a simple task. With this superbly crafted, durable, stainless steel kitchen shears, cutting fresh cilantro, mint, rosemary, scallions, celery leaves, oregano, parsley is simplicity itself.
These shears keep our fingers away from the herbs and the cutting edge of that knife on cutting board technique we are all use to resorting to in the kitchen. Now in addition to getting perfect results from cutting fresh herbs these shears come with a plastic `brush' that is used to clean the blades before washing.
Once you use this device you will not put up with that old chopping block/knife routine again. Highly Recommended.
At long last I've found a way to sustain my Cilantro habit. Every single time I go to the store, I buy at least one bunch of organic cilantro as I put it in everything. But more often than not, part of it turns black before I get to it and wrecks the whole bunch. At $1.50 per bunch, it adds up. Growing it myself did not work at all, so I've been on the look-out for a solution. And guess what? I found it. Cuisipro's Herb Keeper really works and I've yet to throw away yucky black cilantro, or any other herb, since I've started using it.
I was skeptical about this at first, mainly because it's plastic and I have a thing against plastic, plus I suspected it contained BPA since it's a hard clear plastic. However, a rep at Cuisipro assured me that it is SAN plastic and does not contain BPA. I do wish it were glass, but that is my only complaint.
I've tried all sorts of ways to prolong the life of fresh herbs, and this is the most effective I've found yet. It's clean and easy to manage. You just wash your herbs really well, pull out any browning or black stems or leaves, and place the stems in the container on the stick. You fill the bottom a with about two inches of water (I change mine at least every other day) and lower the stick down into the water. And voila! Just snip off what you need, when you need it.
I started out with two of these but will be buying more, they are so incredibly clever. This is so great for off season, I can have fresh herbs any time, and the idea of grating them into the food is pure genius. This is large enough to stuff in a good sized amount, then cut or grate whatever I need for recipes. No more throwing out half used parsley bunches or that bit of extra basil. Are frozen herbs as pretty as fresh? No, I would use this for herbs I planned to either cook with, or make pesto with, but not a garnish over salad. Does freezing make a difference with taste? None that we've noticed.
Leafy herbs such as basil, parsley, cilantro (which usually has fine stems you can chop into the food) can be frozen pretty much as is. Wash, dry, stuff, freeze, use. I adore basil but growing here in our heat means I have to constantly cut the plant down to keep it from bolting (flowering, which them makes the basil bitter), this is perfect for my needs. I use it with my Microplane Grater/Zester which I've had for years.

I have tried many many (many) herb mincers. This one works! Herbs do not get tangled; the blades quickly cut the herbs into small pieces. It's magic. Perfect kitchen tool for me! I have a huge herb garden and make lots of bruschetta all summer long and this makes chopping all that basil so super easy! All my dishes that call for cilantro, and rosemary chicken, barbecue recipes that call for fresh herbs, you name it, the time and effort is cut in half. The blades on the rollers are super sharp and strong so it even minces garlic and onions, peppers and chives with no problem. I've gone so far as to try sun dried tomatoes that have been soaked in olive oil, and while it was a bit of a challenge, I had to slice them in half width-wise first, it didn't let me down. So obviously this great tool is not just limited to herbs. I'm going to keep on experimenting and testing the limits of this little kitchen wonder. Treat it with the same respect you would any sharp kitchen tool, especially when washing it, and you'll find it can save you a lot of time and effort at the cutting board.
This herb mill works really well. I had some Rosemary and Thyme dried up that I needed to grind, so I used this. It worked really well and was super easy to use. You just drop the herbs in and then spin the blades around and your herbs come out nice and chopped for you with practically no effort on your part. It is super easy to clean, I just rinsed mine and everything came right off, if it didn't, I could have easily used a little soap and a scrub brush. This is going to come in super handy this year b/c my herb garden is getting bigger and bigger and I'm glad I have this tool to help me process the herbs once they have been picked from the garden
Such an easy way to strip the herbs from their stems! Various hole sizes so you can pull small stems through or wider stems through. Great for cilantro, parsley, rosemary, pretty much all herbs. Easy to clean and store, too. I wish I had this years ago - it takes stripping herbs to a new level.! If you grow your own herbs, you will definitely want the Chef n Zipstrip herb Stripper as it saves you soooo much time stripping the stems from fresh herbs and is super easy to use, too. #kitchen #gadgets #tools #herbs
Wonderful Herb Keeper. Really, really like this little tray for freezing herbs. The four pieces are joined together and therefore, they do not all get lost in my freezer. I like the way each compartment closes and squeezes the air out. Usually I just freeze the herbs by themselves, but sometimes I add either water or oil to the cup with the herb prior to freezing. Very nice little product -- highly recommend.
Great idea for making your own combination of herbs.Very useful if you cook a lot. Can make various herb combinations ,and the partitioned squares meet the lid to limit the herb aroma mingling. I especially like using these to make up herbed butter in advance for cooking!
The Ball Dry Herb Jars offer a perfectly-sized solution for storing your dried herbs. Great for storing seasonings, spices and rubs too! Stackable, low-profile design makes pantry or drawer storage more efficient than old, mis-matched containers. This jars are wonderful. These herb jars are just the right size. The top, with holes for sprinkling herbs is great. The lids are very sturdy. I have a yard full of herbs I'll be drying and filling these jars with. I like that the jars are glass, too.
Prepara Herb Savor Pod 2.0, Set of 3 - these are the new smaller cousin the the original Prepara Herb Savor Pods. LOVE THEM -- they keep herbs fresh 3-4x longer than without use.
I own something similar by Rachel Ray but found it difficult to use. Love this one, especially the pre-measure portion atop. I've found so many uses besides just salads. Infuse mine with fresh herbs, chopped garlic, a few lemon slices and of course Olive Oil. Let sit overnight. Next morning, pour over fish, mainly Salmon steaks, or chicken breast to marinate. Refrigerate (cover) for remainder of day. In evening, just pop into broiler for 10 min. for Fish. 25 min. prefer oven cook for chicken. Everything comes out so tasty. With remainds try on simple broccoli, saute spinach with oil, or pour onto a salad.
I bought a second one to use for creating topical herb infused body oils with lavendar, rose hips, and mint from our herb garden infused in grapeseed oil or safflower oil. The spout makes it easy to pour into a pump bottle.
Prepare to have fresh herbs that are crisp and delicious for weeks! After throwing out lots and lots of herbs I decided to try this jar. I still have a "fresh" bunch of cilantro in my fridge now...bought three weeks ago. Just make sure you change the water from time to time and you will have fresh herbs on hand...and the saver is large enough to keep more then one type of herb in it! And it fits in my refrigerator door,, too!
This is our second AeroGarden after purchasing one from Sam’s club in 2008. The fact that I do not need to purchase new bulbs after every growing cycle is a BIG plus. The new AeroGarden design is much better than the previous version. The location where you add water is the biggest improvement. We use one gallon distilled water, and the old design made it impossible to add water without spilling on the countertop. The new design has a convenient rubber flap on the corner which makes it much easier. The new display makes it easier to know when to add nutrients, and it also gives you tips every few days on how to better grow and harvest the herbs.
The LED lights are another big improvement. On the previous design the plants would get burned if they grew into the lights, but the plants do not have a problem if they touch the LED hood on the new design.
It is really nice to have the fresh basil and other herbs… no insects, pesticides, dirt, or other nasty stuff. Just pick and throw directly into the pan or in the mixing bowl. Don’t bother with the chives and parsley, for some reason they do not grow well in the AeroGarden. We have used the AeroGarden since 2008 and have completed about 20 growing cycles. The Basil (all types) grow the best, dill does ok, but anything that does not have bigger leaves or grow tall seems to struggle. I just purchased the tomato pack for the next cycle, so I really hope this works well.
I recommend buying two additional things. The first is the “Power grow light booster”, which is just a piece of Mylar with tape on one end (think of an over sized pop tart wrapper). It is simple but works great to reflect the extra light back onto the plants. The second thing is the “Ball frozen herb starter”. If you want to save your herbs for future use then this is the best way to keep them fresh. We tried a lot of different gadgets to keep the excess herbs, including other ice trays, but the Ball frozen herb starter is the way to go.
With this hanging herb drier, you can enjoy aromatic herbs year round. Just tie herbs in bunches with string and hang upside down
Highly recommended. They are very convenient for quickly and easily preparing small amounts of chopped herbs. Be careful with them, as they are super sharp, but that's what makes them work so great. Rinse under running water after use to keep herbs from drying between the blades.
The owner/chef of Napa Valley's Tra Vigne restaurant, Chiarello shares his wisdom about those darlings of today's ambitious cooks, flavored oils. No secret to anyone who's dined in an upscale restaurant within the last 10 years, oils flavored with herbs (or fruit, garlic or porcini) add complexity to many dishes. Chiarello's detailed advice on their judicious use includes instructions for infusions that are careful yet not fussy (e.g., be sure to rinse cloths thoroughly before using them as filters, lest the taste of a detergent be imparted). Noting that commercially prepared flavored oils are also available,
Flavored oils and vinegars are very popular right now, with a great variety on the shelves of grocery and specialty stores, and a wide range of relatively high prices too. You can make your own flavored oils and vinegars at home for far less than the typical specialty store purchase price. Initially, I thought the book would be useful in helping me to utilize the bounty from my herb garden, but I have found many new and tasty ways to use those infused oils and flavored vinegars to enhance the fresh taste of many dishes. . Some of the oils are nice to put on your skin, and you can mix the flavored oil and vinegar for some really nice salad dressings.
New to growing fresh Herb's. This book has all the information I needed to grow, harvest, and cook. What I have been looking for, very easy to read and understand. Best herb cookbook I've ever used. Recipes are from herb farms across the country with readily available ingredients and concise instructions. Check out the Zucchini Torte and Herbed Potato Pie. The book also has a section on individual herbs...growing needs, how to use them, etc. This cookbook is easy and fun.....it makes you look like a gourmet cook while you put very little effort out......the ingredients are easy to find and the instructions are clear and concise.......A MUST HAVE FOR ANY LEVEL COOK! These reciepes sound so good, you just want to try them all. I would** recommend to anyone who is looking for ways to use herbs in thier cooking.**
This is one of the best books I've seen on herbal cooking blends. It starts at the point of getting your herbs--from how to dry fresh herbs and store them, through recipes from soup to nuts and enhancing most foods between, as well as teas and other drinks. Ms. Oster gives some background for the people and shops supplying the recipes and encourages you to try your own substitutions and eventually, to make up personal blends to suit your own tastes and needs. Even if you don't reach that point, there are enough recipes in this book to keep you well supplied with tasty foods and teas for years to come. And as a bonus, there are pages of resource suppliers and labels in the back to provide you with herbs and spices and labels for your own jars of blends. This book is a definite winner to me. Enjoy!
