The commercial hub of China, Shanghai flaunts some of the most extraordinary towering structures which are immaculate in both architecture and interior. Below are some of the city's top skyscrapers.
The Shanghai tower is the tallest skyscraper in the city that looms at a height 623 meters. The building has a total of 124 stores and has the capacity to accommodate at least 16000 people. Completed in 2014 the building overshadows Shanghai and China's current engineering marvels.
Another architectural masterpiece in Shanghai, the IFC is designed to look like raw diamonds which emulates the essence of all the high class shopping that this building has in store. A masterpiece of Burgess, these twin towers in Shanghai has everything from a mall featuring brands that only the elite can afford, plenty of dining options, a cinema and an array of luxury accommodations.
At a height of 270 meters the Wheelock Square flaunts 62 stories with an infrastructure that is considered nothing short of brilliant. Strategically located in the heart of Shanghai, the Wheelock Square is well connected and sports a sexy exterior that draws in a plethora of visitors. The building has a unique angular rhombus structure complete with evenly spaced columns and when lit up picturesquely at night, this really is a sight to see.
At one time the Jin Mao Tower was the tallest building in all of Shanghai. The 88 floors that make up this tower were designed to represent Shanghai's past and is truly an artwork to be admired. Completed in the year 1999 the tower was many a time in the spotlight since it was considered an excellent skyscraper for Spiderman climbing. Another highlight of the Jin Mao is the 1,500-square-meter observation deck which provides an impressive 360-degree view of the city and boasts China's highest post box!
Up until 2014 when the Shanghai Tower took over, the Shanghai World Financial Center was the tallest building in the city. This architectural masterpiece is yet another impressive structure in the city which towers at a height of 492 meters and has a total of 101 stories. With a glass observation deck that is currently the highest in the world, the mere view from this spot is definitely worth the RMB 150 that is costs to enter this skyscraper.
This absolutely unique building that was constructed in 2003 has become iconic to Shanghai thanks to its design. The tower predominantly houses the Marriott hotel but also has other private apartments, offices and around six restaurants, all with an uncommon view of Shanghai looking outwards from the center of the city. Located in the heart of Shanghai city, this structure is easily accessible from some of the biggest hotels and resorts in the city. In fact, if you are staying at the Ascott Huai Hai Road Shanghai or any other serviced apartment in Shanghai this is one attraction that is just a hop skip and a jump away.
