May, 2015- On the whole, today's pet owners are more concerned than ever about quality of life. They want their dogs and cats to live the longest and best lives possible. The result is an increased interest in wellness and preventive care, both of which are boosting supplement sales.

5-21-2015- Consolidation of care clinics, less income for pet care and regulatory delays for medicines are among the findings of a new study examining the animal health industry's future. Ron Brakke, of Brakke Consulting in Dallas, spoke to 30 industry professionals from the area during an animal health round table Thursday afternoon at the Innovation Stockyard, located in the Bond Incubator at Missouri Western.

Pet owners love their pets and have increasingly expressed that love with their wallets. With 56% of U.S. households owning a pet, spending continues to rise as Americans lavished $30.4 billion on their pets last year, up from $17.8 billion in 2000. Dog food took up nearly half of that retail spending at $14.5 billion last year.

The British public's obsession with dogs and cats is beyond reckon, but sprawling chain Pets at Home can put a figure of £87m ($134m, €118m) in full year pre-tax profits on its much needed services, which have now expended to include vet practices.
