Dehradun: The gates of the ancient Kedarnath shrine were thrown open for devotees amid elaborate rituals early Friday morning. "Chief priest of the shrine (Rawal) presided over the opening of the doors of temple and its sanctum sanatorium at 4.50 am in presence of Rudraprayag district officials and temple trust officials," President of Kedarnath-Badrinath Temple Trust, Ganesh Gadiyal said.

New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will undertake a yatra to Kedarnath on Thursday, trekking 18 kms up into the Uttarkhand mountains to pay obeisance at the temple which faced the brunt of flash-floods two years ago and has since been spruced up.
