These sites are the "big sites" (often linked to events, magazines, organizations and other movements) that define the field and future. They often include projects, trends, large photos, interior and industrial design, technology, art exhibits, and more. The home page for the American Society of Interior Designers. Has sections for designers, industry partners, consumers and students. Features include careers, events, education, awards and competitions, knowledge center and media/news. You can find a designer, get publications and view videos on interior design.
The core of Arch Daily is projects entered by the architects or designers with factual information about the project by type. The editors and the magazine then supplement these with more information. This is very much an international projects' online magazine. In addition, there is current information on materials, competitions, events, and the related Milan Expo as well as interviews with leaders in the field.

The site says it has over 85,000 international projects and is the largest architecture site on the web. There is more emphasis on this site of networking between teams and professionals.
The goal of Archinect is to make architecture more connected and open-minded, and bring together designers from around the world to introduce new ideas from all disciplines. Archinect was initially developed in 1997 and has since become the top online destination for progressive-design oriented architects, students, educators, and fans. The site is like a high design networking of architects and those in the industry including projects available through completion, jobs, industry news and more. Updated daily.
The journal of the American Institute of Architects. The association has its own site for AIA news and events at www.aia.org but the AIA is linked through the journal in a more online magazine friendly way. The journal focuses on Architectural Design and Architects and Architecture Online: Per the site, it is, "The premier site for Architecture Industry News & Building Resources for Architects and Architecture Industry Professionals." Sections include typical architecture areas like projects and products, but is able to bring in the strength of the AIA through sections on the business (and salaries) of architects, continuing education, awards and unique architectural criticism.
AD is the international design authority, featuring the work of top architects and designers, as well as the best in style, culture, travel, and shopping.
A mainstay for professional architects, Architectural Record has managed to successfully balance its well established print publication with a digital site. The site offers plenty of free content and photos for any design enthusiast, and has extra perks for subscribers of its print and/or digital versions to make subscription relevant without a lot of annoying paywalls.
Architizer connects architects to a vibrant network of peers, fans, and potential clients. Per the site, "54,434 projects (and counting). We launched Architizer in 2009 to make architecture and interiors accessible to everyone. Now it is the largest platform for architecture and design online hosting projects uploaded by the designers themselves." Includes products, projects and their own A+ Awards in 90 categories.

As such, it is a great site to get European news, inspiration and updates wherever you practice.

Among its four sites, e-architects reports it has almost 2 million hits a day. Unlike the majority of other sites, e-architect focuses solely on architecture and architects, not a combination of all design. They have over 18,000 pages of architecture projects and news, and over 1,500 pages of architects themselves. The site is also run by all architects themselves. They also include walking tours of cities around the world from the view of an architect.
Started as a blog in Romania in the nineties, Freshome.com has created a "vibe" unique to their community. While it says it's an "Interior design, modern product designs and contemporary world architecture news blog magazine," for certain types of clients, trends and projects, Freshome is the top online location for architects. You'll have to visit to get a feel for the focus. A definite bookmark site.
