Cultural events in Goa – Colorful Celebrations

Enriched with culture and infused with tradition, Goa celebrates the practices and rituals of varying faiths and races. Year round there is some exciting cultural event taking place in this part of the world

Feast of Three Kings

The year begins in Goa with the feast of the Kings; that's right; Goa hosts this remarkable celebration on the 6th of January where three young boys from Cansaulim, Arossim & Cuelim are dressed as Three Kings, bearing the same gifts that the Kings were believed to have given the infant Jesus. Celebrated by both Christians and Hindus this event usually takes place at the Our Lady of Remedies chapel at Cuelim and is later followed by a pompous fair.

Grand Escapade

Sipping wine is a major part of the Goan culture and lifestyle. In the Grand Escapade, the wines of Goa are celebrated with plenty of Grape stomping together with haute cuisine and lavish entertainment which makes the celebrations all the more entertaining. Goa Carnival,

Shigmotsav/Gulalotsav Festival

Every year somewhere around the 7th of March, Goa celebrates the Indian festival of Holi. Known within Goa as the Shigmotsav, the festival is full of color and happens to be the biggest celebration of the Spring season. In essence this celebration honors the homecoming of warriors who in the past had left their homes and families at the end of Dusshera to fight the invaders. Apart from all the color, guests can also enjoy massive dance parades performed from dance troops who have been in this industry for centuries.

Goa Food and Cultural festival

Seafood is a major component of the Goan culture. The Laira Zara is a Hindu Pilgrimage Festival and is one of Goa's most popular festivals. Celebrated in honor of Goddess Lairai, the fire walking by Dhond at the Shirgao Temple, during the zatra is a sight you must not miss.
