Forbes recently rated the physician assistant degree as the "Best Master's Degree for Jobs," citing both an increasing demand for healthcare services, and the growing shortage of physicians.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for physician assistants is projected to grow at a much faster rate than the average occupation, growing by 38% by 2022. "Increased demand for healthcare services from the growing and aging population and widespread chronic disease, combined with a shortage of physicians, will result in increased demand for healthcare providers, such as physician assistants."
A survey completed for the NCCPA captured opinions from 1,000 consumers across the U.S. aged 21-64 with health insurance. Over 94 percent of respondents said they are willing to be seen by a physician assistant instead of a physician
