Plenty of resources and information for those of you who travel to San Sebastian, Spain.
It's one long celebration in San Sebastián at the moment - as if you needed a reason to sample the gastronomy here on Spain's northern coast. Several of the Basque city's landmark buildings - the María Cristina hotel, the Victoria Eugenia theatre, the La Perla spa, the funfair and the Monte Igueldo funicular - were all built in 1912, and their centenary is still being marked with revamps and commemorative events.
After a decade of adventuring at new-wave restaurants, I recently landed in Spain with a yearning to immerse myself in the country's most traditional social rituals, to connect more deeply with its compulsively sociable culture. And so, to plumb this unique Iberian alma, I joined the tapeo-the tapas-bar crawl that has Spaniards walking, talking, drinking, and nibbling every weekend, if not every day.
Why go now? From 21-29 September, the jewel of northern Spain's Basque Country will host its 60th international film festival ( sansebastianfestival.com), while longer term, the city is gearing up to assume the mantle of European Capital of Culture in 2016.
