Shoes are a big deal, but they can be pretty expensive. Here are some DIYs for shoes you already own or are second hand.
"Custom Spider-Man Comic book shoes! When I first heard of comic book shoes I was taken aback! I would have never thought to do something like that! And with the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man movie, I thought now was a perfect time to create some of my own."
"Ahoi! Writing a DIY tutorial for espadrilles seems strangely out of place today, since Berlin has been forced to fluffy cardigans and closed shoes these past few days. We're missing summer very much. But if you're one of those lucky ones, living in a warmer place or planning a trip to a warmer place (like we do!), this tutorial is for you."
These are cute and fruity. They're perfect for spring and summer.
"My best friend got married a few weeks ago and the bridesmaids wore white Vans, I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do with them afterwards and I'm glad I went with this option. I love how customizable canvas shoes are and I was very pleased with how these turned out."
Very cute iron-ons in spring floral. They'll work on any white shoe.
"Lay out the plastic tablecloth to protect your work surface from the dye. Soak the shoes in water for a few minutes until they are completely saturated. Mix the dye according to the package directions. The dye I used called for 4 cups warm water and 1 teaspoon salt."
Tye-dye isn't just for t-shirts anymore.
"New Year, new projects. I recently spoke to a fellow who really really wanted me to paint his girlfriend a pair of TOMS with Frida Kahlo on them. She really wants Las Dos Fridas on the top of them, he said. Can you do it?"
Whoa! Pretty amazing!
"I love sneakers and the cheaper the better, I say. Since I go through shoes hard and fast there is no reason to spend 50 bucks on a pair of name brand sneaks that are going to be hitting pavement so hard that they are worn out in a month or so."
Dots never get old.
"One of my friends recently gave birth to a baby boy and I want to give her and the baby something made out of love. Ever since I made this blanket out of granny squares I am obsessed with crochet and now I'm all about learning different patterns and techniques."
"So I've mentioned it before but I'll say it just once again. I LOVE taking my nephews trick or treating. It is just about the niftiest thing ever. And since I'm not one of those adults who will dress up, I try to show my Halloween spirit in other ways."
"Greetings JAA readers! My name is Cathy and I blog over at Cat & Bot. I'm also a jewelry designer and content creator. Cap toe shoes are a big trend this year and the Internet loves cats. What do you get when you combine the two?"
"I love repping my favorite bands at concerts and festivals, but sometimes a band tee is a bit much. So for this year's Warped Tour, I compromised and painted canvas shoes. I grabbed these beauts for $7 at Walmart (steal!). They held up through mad moshing, jumping and all-around foot torture, so I'm floored by the quality."
Pop culture and all that ideology sitting in the blind spot. Also crafts.
