The monument consists of a 132m tall column rising from a foundation block. On top of the column lies a gold plated structure, which resembles a torch. The outer yard of the monument contains numerous reliefs which depict various significant chapters in Indonesia's struggle for independence. In the evenings, lights are projected to the column of the National Monument, which truly is an awe-inspiring sight. The National History Museum is also located in close proximity to the National Monument, and houses and range of historic artifacts and diaromas.
Literally translating to 'Miniature Park of Indonesia', Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is one of the most unique cultural attractions Jakarta has to offer. This park is considered to be the tourist attraction with the largest landscape in Jakarta, and offers an amazing preview of the culture of Indonesia. The park is home to numerous museums and attractions showcasing Indonesian culture, traditions, lifestyle, arts and crafts, engineering, and many cultural artifacts. A highlight of the park is that it contains a pavilion which represents each province on the map of Indonesia, which showcases its culture and identity. Ancol is Jakarta's premier beach park. Although the beach itself is not of much beauty or significance, Ancol is home to many attractions, making it one of the hottest tourist spots in Jakarta. Within the Ancol complex you will find an exciting amusement park, a miniature golf course, numerous restaurants and pubs, and even a few nightclubs! Apart from these highlights, Ancol is also a hit with photographers which wish to capture the sunset, or the life of Jakarta. The Istaqlal Mosque is the largest mosque in Indonesia, and even claimed to be the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. The Catholic Cathedral, on the other hand, is a typical Gothic style structure with all the traditional features of a Gothic style church.
