Places of attractions in Macau – entertainment at fingertips

If you are on a budget travel, Macau is a bit pricier. The best thing is to stay over in Hong Kong and take a tour to Macau within a day or two. You may still wonder how to discover Macau within a day or two. But a well planned tour will guarantee a good tour of attractions in Macau.

1

Ruins of St. Paul

First constructed in 1580, what you see today is mostly its ruins. For that reason alone, the church has become quite famous in the area. The church has entered the UNESCO World Heritage Site list as well as a historic centre. Interestingly the church was caught up in fire for several times, and had to be reconstructed all the while. If you travel from façade, you will note a number of Christian scenes on the outer wall. The museum located close by will give you a thorough idea of what St. Paul used to be, and what it is now.

2

Senado Square

Another place listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Senado Square was originally an urban centre. It has been so for over centuries. And still it is, where people organize various events and celebrations. If you walk around, you will see many colonial buildings. Inside them you can see the Portuguese influence too. The square is home to many restaurants and shopping complexes as well where you can consume egg tart and other famous Portuguese and Chinese cuisine. The entrance to the square is completely free, while you have access to it all throughout the year.

3

St. Domingo's Church

People call it St. Dominic's Church too. If you are still in Senado Square, do not forget to step into this church too. Three Spanish Dominican priests set up this church in 1587. This is where the Portuguese published their first newspaper in a Chinese premise. In 1828, the administration renovated the church and made it what it looks today.

4

Macau Tower

You will notice this tower simply for its height, which is about 338 metres. Macau Tower is easily visible among all others in the city. So how do you get here? From the outer Harbour Ferry, it will take about four kilometres to get here. From the Fisherman's Wharf it will be about three kilometres. If you still cannot locate it, ask where Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Center is, in professional language. Most people know the place by that term. You can see how broadcasting and other communication takes place in this tower. The charges, of course, depend on what activity you opt for. The best activity still is to go to the tower's observation desk to get a good view of the city. It is good to stay somewhere like Starworld Macau Hotel, one of the Hotels in Macau, so that you can visit the tower at dawn. For the tower offers a better view at the nighttime.

5

Fisherman’s Wharf

Unless you intend to visit stores, restaurants or some extra attractions close by, Fisherman’s Wharf does not charge any fee from you. This place was declared open in 2006, and is the first theme park complex in Macau. The easiest route begins at Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal. It takes only one kilometer from here. The park shelters 150 stores and restaurants, in addition to a manmade volcano.
