Here is a list of tools *and *apps that make participating in Twitter Chats easier. I have listed mainly the sites and apps that let you easily participate in Twitter chats. They all allow you to put the chat #hastag into your tweets automatically (not sure about hootsuite and tweeteck, but all others do). There are also sites that allow you to create a chat transcript and more - If this proves popular, I might add to it. My comments about each app/site are my own. I have used all of the apps to participate in a chat - but everyone has their own preferences. If I have missed a program, site or app, let me know.
Like all of these apps, it places the chat #hahstag into the tweet , so you don't have to remember to do so. I like this app best as it rarely freezes during a chat. It also offers the option of following someone after you retweet something of theirs. "tchat.io is a tool to make it easy to participate in Twitter chats. "
It, of course adds the #hashtag to the end of your tweet. I find that sometimes it freezes during chats. But it is a great tool that was defunct until @OneQubeMe resurrected it. "TweetChat is where the world comes to chat. A Twitter chat platform which allows users to participate in real-time hashtag conversations."
Embeds the chat hashtag at end of your tweets. This is a solid platform to chat from. They also have a directory of chats and events and tv shows that use #hashtags. "Hashtags made useful. Follow hashtags and conversations that interest you. Real-time tweets, photos, videos and more from hashtags in one place. "
As all do - it adds the chat #hashtag to the end of your tweets. Many folks like it. I find the chat window is a bit small on my screen, text not large enough etc, unless I enlarge my screen to 150%. My personal opinion. It is also a bit confusing when you start a chat, you put in the #hashtag you want, it takes you to twitter's API and you authorize it, then it takes you to a channel with your username as a hashtag, then you change it back to the chat hashtag you wanted to follow. "Nurph is The Twitter Chat Platform. Free-flowing group chats, chat planning, statistics, replays, and more for buzzing Twitter Chat Communities."
I have used Hootsuite in the past, but I find the screens too busy for a chat. I'm sure it can add the chat hashtag in automatically, but I'm not sure how to do so myself. "Enhance your social media management with Hootsuite, the leading social media dashboard. Manage multiple networks and profiles and measure your campaign results."
Tweetdeck was a desktop app that was purchased by Twitter, then it was a desktop and mobile app. Now it is a Web-based only app. I include it here as some folks use it to participate in chats, but I have not used it to do so myself. this is also text-based list item here as the icon that came up for this when I made it a link was annoying - it looked like a circle of a program trying to continuously load. https://about.twitter.com/products/tweetdeck
This was my favorite Twitter chat app, but when Twitter's API got more complex the developer who created this app bowed out. What was cool is that you could construct different grid options for how You wanted to do the chat. My fav was a 4 column grid, side by side: 1 column for all tweets using the #hashtag. 2nd column for the host's tweets so you can see the questions. 3rd column for the guest's tweets - so you can see their answers, and the 4th column so you can see your own @mentions - when people retweeted you or replied to a tweet of yours. You could also create this grid
(or another configuration to your liking) and then send a link out to it in advance of the chat - so that others could click on that link and the host and guest's info would be there - all they had to do was put in their own username. But it is sadly on hold until someone buys or resurrects it. If you're interested - I can put you in touch!
