App Reviews and Articles, January - March, 2015

Here are my children's app reviews between January and March, 2015 at www.thebookchook.com , plus links to collections of earlier educational app reviews.

Children's iPad App, Puppet Workshop

Here's a fun app for kids that also encourages them to create. From the developers: Puppet Workshop was created to develop your child's creativity. Choose a sock or glove which will become a virtual puppet. Read more at The Book Chook.

Children's iPad App, EyePaint MyDIARY

EyePaint MyDIARY is an app by developer, Curious Hat. I've previously reviewed Curious Ruler by Curious Hat. Basically this app offers kids several templates. Once the child taps on an area in a template, the camera button appears and whatever texture, pattern or colour the child aims at, appears in that space once the button is clicked. Children's iPad App, Thinkrolls

I like AVOKIDDO apps. I've reviewed Bec and Bo, Avokiddo Emotions, and ABC Ride. Today I'd like to tell you about Thinkrolls, also by AVOKIDDO. It's both an iOS and Android app. From the developer: Kids will have a blast navigating their Thinkrolls through a series of obstacles in brightly patterned mazes. Read more at The Book Chook.

Children's iPad App, Superhero Comic Book Maker

Superhero Comic Book Maker - by Duck Duck Moose grabbed my attention because I love to find ways for children to create. I especially enjoy discovering tools that help kids tell a digital story. I've previously reviewed the Duck Duck Moose app, Chatterpix Kids. Read more at The Book Chook.

Children's iPad App, MoMA Art Lab

The Museum of Modern Art no doubt needs no introduction. Did you know MoMA have an app, one that encourages kids to experiment with art digitally? I believe children who enjoy the app may well want to go on and play with art in real life too. Read more at The Book Chook.

Children's iPad App, Tell About This

Tell About This is an iPad app from the same developers as Write About This, an app I reviewed last year. It has a similar format to Write About This, and gets my coveted Book Chook Feather of Approval because it encourages children to create and express themselves. Read more at The Book Chook.

Children's iPad App, Make Beliefs Comix

Because I love to find ways for children to tell digital stories, or create with their iPads in some way, I was pleased to find there's now an iPad app version of Make Beliefs Comix, a comic strip creator. Read more at The Book Chook.
