She took to Twitter to settle the rumours, but once these kinds of things are out in the open, they're hard to get rid of. Fans are the most important part of stardom, and they know it. They know the kind of power they wield when they feel disrespected. Fortunately for Ariana, she has a loyal group of people who love her.

They're constantly producing fan fiction (some very famous), fan art, and other forms of appreciation,. They do this not for the band, but for each other.
I don't know anyone who isn't a fan of #beyonce. Fandoms for any artist have moved from fringe groups to mainstream "armies". It's almost as if artists have become their own nations, with qualities to defend by large anonymous groups that gather online. It is easier to connect nowadays, so the groups seem more cohesive.

#Ed #Sheeran's talent is enough to want to follow this guy around for the rest of your life. He sings the soundtrack of his love life, and your love life. That's where he connects. The lyrics fit into any moment.
#Eric #Church has a herd of loyal fans, even though this is the first time I've wrote, or heard, about them. In the country world, Church is a big deal.

She knows that it is this group that controls her destiny, and she seems to genuinely want to have some kind of relationship with them. It's like a pop culture symbiosis.
#5sos (5 Seconds of Summer) have fan bases that flow in and out from One Direction's group. They seem to be forever intertwined. I'm sure they don't mind sharing fans, especially when the fan base is massive.
