Best Dive Spots in Maldives – Just Jump In!

Vaavu Atoll

This highly rated dive site in Maldives is abundant in coral and fish. The fast flowing currents, the caves, overhangs, and swim-throughs filled with yellow and black coral bushes at the deeper ends makes this spot a diver's delight. Divers can expect to see reef sharks, tuna, jack, unicorn fish, snappers, eagle rays, mantas and triggerfish. The thila in the middle of the channel entrance is ideal to do the safety stop. The breathtaking underwater scenery and atmosphere makes this one of the top diving spots in Male.

Ari Atoll

This Maldivian Atoll is the place you can rely to encounter plenty of big fish anytime of the year. Big fish such as whale sharks, mantas, hammerheads, eagle rays, scorpionfish, moray eels as well as turtles are a common sight here. The large fan corals add to the splendor of the dive with abundant of free flowing yellow corals surrounding the area.

North Male Atoll

One of the oldest diving sites in Maldives, this area consist of the Gaathugiri also known as the Banana Reef. The site comprise of three main pinnacle sections ranging from thirty feet to fifty feet in length. There is always current present here and you can easily spiral up and around. Magnificenr rock faces, numerous caves, steep drop offs and steep overhangs are to be expected here. The marine life includes sharks, manta rays, black snappers, groupers, large morays, squirrelfish, and Maldivian grub fish. There is much to look forward at this spot.

Lhaviyani Atoll

The current that flows here is very strong; hence it is called Kuredu Express. You can cruise along the terraces located at different depth and watch the sharks, eagle rays, tuna, stingrays and barracuda swim by. Mantas are also a common occupant here.
