The OETC Refrigerator

The refrigerator is where all great work lives. Thank you OETC participants for a wonderful conference!

Kahoot! Quiz on the Scientific Method

Kahoot! is a classroom response system which creates an engaging learning space, through a game-based digital pedagogy. Kahoot! is an easy-to-use blended learning platform which works on any device, making the classroom interactive, encouraging both educators and learners to ask great questions.

SHOUT OUT TO AMANDA PRIMM for this Kahoot on the Scientific Process! (You will need to be logged into your Kahoot account in order to preview Amanda's quiz.)

Google Maps Smarty Pins

Smarty Pins is a Google Maps based geography and trivia game. This would be filed under, "Random Goodness". This is a really fun game game called Smarty Pins. It is a Google created trivia game where students are given a trivia question and then they have to place a pin in the correct location of that event/place on the Google map. Students are given 1000 miles to begin the game. They lose miles based on how far away they are from the precise location. Game is up when they run out of miles.

ANOTHER SHOUT OUT to Amanda Primm for submitting such a great tool!

Taiga Forests Using Google Maps

After students study about abiotic and biotic factors in a particular ecosystem, they locate that ecosystem on Google Maps. They then add pins for the abiotic and biotic factors with each group labeled differently.

Amanda Primm does it again! THANK YOU for sharing!

About Birds ThingLink

Second Graders created Thinglink bird reports and gave information on their bird's adaptations (specifically their beaks and feet). View additional examples below.

Symbaloo Kindergarten ELA Resource Idea

Access your bookmarks and online favorites with Symbaloo. A free social bookmarking service in the cloud.

I plan to create a Symbaloo page that has leveled bookmarks to help support K ELA. So far, I have added ONE link. When I share what I learned at this conference with my K Teacher Team I plan to add the websites they use with their kiddos.

WAY TO GO Melissa!

Oregon Trail - Tackk

Have students create an Animoto video with pictures and text summarizing a historical event, such as the Oregon Trail, and paste the link into their Tackk poster. Then I can share the Tackk poster with parents by sharing the link on my website to the tagged posters.

GREAT IDEA Maestra Janna!

Keith Broyles' Nutshell Video

Keith Broyles just created and shared a new nutshell video with you. Make your own nutshells by downloading Nutshell from the AppStore.

E-books and Thinglink

Students read an e-book, find other related media, and create a Thinglink showing what they learned about the topic.

THANKS Toni Zikmund for this one!

WordSift - Visualize Text

This is a great tool for copying and pasting text to analyze word usage, get links for all definitions for all words, and much more. Give it a try.

Timeline JS - Beautifully crafted timelines that are easy, and intuitive to use.

JS Timeline would be great to use for students to track not only progress on an assignment, but to create historical timelines for a unit of study. You can outline the key concepts/ideas for the unit and as you progress through the learning they add to the ideas and dates that you had pre-listed created a record of their learning.

LOVE THIS IDEA Christina!

Blendspace Dinosaurs

I created a Blendspace for my kindergartners. We are going to study dinosaurs with our informational text unit. This will allow my students to explore dinosaurs on their own and find one to study further.

tells the story of how ordinary kids helped change history. Award-winning author Elizabeth Partridge explores the events at Selma from their point of view, drawing on the vivid recollections of some of those who marched as children.

Moral Issues in History - Tackk

I created a Tackk poster to show the students how to make a presentation on a person in history who faced a moral issue and how they responded to the moral issue.

WAY TO GO Tim McMonagle!
