Optimizing YouTube Videos - Metadata Recommendations

Optimizing YouTube videos is a great way to expand your content footprint. Knowing what items are important will save you time and make your YouTube channel more effective at reaching your audience.


Step 1: Video filename uploaded to YouTube should have your primary keyword in it.

Understanding what people will be searching for and how you want your video to be found is a critical thing to consider when creating a video for upload to your YouTube account. Including that keyword phrase in the filename of the video file you upload makes a difference.


Step 2: YouTube Video Title should include your primary keyword.

Including your primary keyword in the video title will help it come up in search results when people are looking for a solution, answer, how to, etc. See if you can have the keyword closer to the front of the title.


Step 3: Link to a page on your website from the Description.

We recommend that the link be the first thing in your description, so it's right at the top. YouTube makes this link clickable.
