One of Amsterdam's few fully vegan restaurants, this tiny place close to the Amsterdam Centraal station feels like a discovery. The service may be a little inconsistent, but TerraZen is a family business and the Japanese-Caribbean fusion food gets great reviews. True to the name, the atmosphere and staff are both very laid back. It's a little pricey, but the ingredients are local and organic, and they take special requests if you talk to the chef. This clean, contemporary vegetarian butcher shop offers tasty sandwiches with vegan meats and cheeses, salads, and more. Not all of the faux meats are vegan, so be sure to ask. You can also ask for samples if you want to try something before making your choice. They sell a range of vegetarian products and kitchen goods as well, and you may even see their "meats" served at other restaurants throughout the Netherlands. Don't forget to pick up a bottle of one of the vegan wines they carry to take back to your hotel!
