I am so happy to have finished making my Family Response Journals! We use these every week. The kids and parents just love them! These journals are for parents and kids to write letters back and forth. In the beginning of the year, we brainstorm a letter that we can all write about - "Dear Mom, We are learning about bugs.

I always read about desks versus tables for first graders. I know it is all in a preference for what the individual teacher wants to use. However, I thought I would share with you a wonderful addition to my desks/tables. I built small shelving units to go between desks to hold the student's individual book boxes, tissues, hand santizer, etc.
