Best surfing spots in Bali - ride the wave your way

Surfing spots are not that many in the world. That is why the limited number of spots draws a large number of tourists. Bali, among the handful of surfing spots, could be reckoned as one of the best in the whole planet.
1

Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach
Of all the beaches in Bali, Kuta retains a unique stance. It is almost revered for its pristine surfable beach features. Surfers, especially the novices, take much delight in travelling all the way down here. This is the best place to hone their skills to become pros.
Kuta is ideal for beginner on various grounds. You do not experience rough tide conditions. And the waves are of medium height. That is not all. Your risks are almost zero, with the lifeguards patrolling often. If you are a white water surfer, Kuta is just the place for you.
On a little disappointing note, the beach is somewhat crowded with surfing instructors, board rentals and lessons for beginners. But you can choose to be on your own.
2

Uluwatu

Uluwatu
This could perhaps be the most popular surfing spot in Bali. Like in Kuta, Uluwatu's tides are also steady. You need to go through a cave to get into this area.
Any Ubud Guide will tell you how to reach Uluwatu beach more conveniently. They will also brief you about where to stay such as Uma by COMO Ubud. Uluwatu is a well known area among surf professionals. Uluwatu's surfing season begins in August and goes on till September. As September matures, Uluwatu's waves take a different turn. It is not so advisable to surf during the off season.

Canggu Beach

Canggu Beach
It is simply a matter of half an hour from Kuta beach to reach here. But Canggu is mainly for surf pros. But its slow waves are good news for novices too. If you are new to the game, you can practise a bit. Its slow-rolling waves will give you an awesome feel. When the waves are slow, Canggu is even better than Kuta. But you can try out both Kuta and Canggu to determine which is better!

Keramas Beach

Keramas Beach
Keramas are a secret among the surf pros. Because its waves require skill and dexterity. The best time to experience its challenging waves is during the early hours of the day. That is when winds are somewhat strong. Apart from the morning times, this beach remains calm and serene. It is symbolic of Bali's surfing pride.

Padang-Padang Beach

Padang-Padang Beach
Padang-Padang is of course the all-time favourite destination of surfers. The pros will identify it as the Balinese Pipeline. This has become a popular destination mainly because of annual surfing contests. You will see the waves rising to about 12 feet in height. Try to reach there when the festive spirit lingers on. It will offer you the chance to meet the specialists, masters and professionals who will fill you with all kinds of surfing knowledge. Theoretical knowledge is also interesting, especially when they describe how certain surfing moves happen.
