In this video the most important point was that you can no longer give students facts and content and expect them to have success. They must be taught to think, analyze and create things. I think some of these statistics need updating. A lot were from 2001. It is 2015, I’d be willing to bet those numbers are way higher!

This video is a short and to the point. It describes how students need to know more than just reading, writing and arithmetic. This video describes the lack of 21st century skills noticed by employers. It shows that 2/3 of employers say that their employees do not have critical thinking skills, written communication skills, or professionalism. I like the statement from the video, “we make them masters with content not masters of content.” Education needs to be changed.

Robin Hood Primary students describe how they feel about learning. This video was fun. I love the sign that says “I wrote a story in my book, my teacher read it. I wrote a story online, 2000+ people read it.” The ultimate point is again, students want to be engaged.
A Vision of K-12 Students Today
This video raises an interesting question, “If we learn by doing, why are we just sitting here?” It is focused on the way K-12 students feel about school, classes and teachers not teaching information in relevant ways. Students want to be engaged using technology.
A Vision of Students Today
This video shows what it is like to be a student today. I enjoyed this video because some of the things I can really relate to being in college for so many years.
Teaching the 21st Century Learner
This video stresses the fact that our teaching and education practices must change to reflect the digital revolution. I like the quote: “we must meet them in their learning space.”
Rethinking Learning: The 21st Century Learner | MacArthur Foundation
This video shows that 21st century skills are not just skills for the work force or technology. 21st century learners should also be taught creativity and social skills. The point of the video is to get formal and informal learning to coexist with each other.
