Pittsburgh Craft Breweries & Brewpubs

Comprehensive list of Craft Breweries and Brewpubs in Pittsburgh.
CoStar Brewing
You don’t have to break all of the rules to be new, fresh, and inspiring. You just have to do it well. This is what CoStar strives to do and deliver a product that allows the brewery to be true to themselves in creating a quality and consistent product that engages the consumer in an experience that goes beyond a single brew. They realize that their wares will not be for everyone, but they also recognize that you don’t have to like something to appreciate where it comes from and what it stands for. CoStar stands for the beer, not the hype along with a humble sense of carrying on a great tradition with roots as far back as mankind. They hope this comes through in their beer and that you can find one in a local watering hole near you soon!
Draai Laag
At Draai Laag [dry-law`g] we strive to create something truly different. Our creations are Belgian inspired ales concentrating on style integration. Our approach to making beer is centered on old world methods, such as complex fermentations using multiple yeast strains, long maturation periods and aging our beers on the lees. Everything we create is brewed in small artisanal batches and bottle by hand. Through a simplified process, we take great pride in creating complex flavors in a world inundated with the norm.

East End Brewing Co.
For the most part, we're a "Draft Only" operation. So aside from a dozen or so hand-bottled specialty beers we offer throughout the year at the brewery, the BEST way to get our beer is at one of our locations in a Growler, fresh-filled while you wait. Or, for those looking to make a bigger commitment, we also offer Kegs.

We typically brew over 35 different beers each year. Most are distributed to bars and restaurants through Western PA by our Master Distributor, Vecenie Distributing. But to find our small batch and hand-bottled brews, you'll need to come to us.

The Hitchhiker Brewing Co. brew pub offers a variety of hand-crafted beers (brewed on-premise). Hop Farm Brewing Company
Hop Farm Brewing Company is dedicated to the responsible use of our natural resources, from production to packaging. We grow our own hops, by hand, organically and add them to every batch we brew. The inspiration for Hop Farm Brewing Company began over a decade ago. A green thumb naturally led to growing some of our own hops. The two hobbies developed into the passion which has now become Hop Farm Brewing Company.

Milkman Brewing
We are a small operation made up of craft beer lovers united by a common drive to make unique and intriguing brews.

We have a novel approach to running a brewery. We have several brewmasters who take the lead on projects based on personal expertise and interest. The multiple brewmaster approach allows us to execute new projects with a battery of personalities and ideas for every new brew. Combing so many great minds allows us to create the unusual styles and flavors, not to mention interesting presentations, that we are known for.

Pennsylvania Brewing Company
Penn Brewery tells the story of Pittsburgh’s European immigrants through its craft beer and homemade cuisine. Pittsburgh’s oldest and largest brewery, Penn is housed in the mid nineteenth-century landmark E&O Brewery Building in the North Side’s Deutschtown neighborhood, which was settled by German immigrants. Penn has been producing high-end craft beers since 1986, specializing in authentic, award-winning German-style beers brewed in the tradition of these immigrants, according to the strict quality standards of Reinheitsgebot. Our beers’ great taste comes from real German hops and two-row barley, with no added corn or rice fillers.

Round About
So, it is your typical start-up brewery story: Brewer wants to open his own place after working for breweries in FL, HI, CA (x3), CO, MO (x2), New Zealand, and PA (x3). Hmmmm, maybe that isn’t so typical. Regardless, we are so excited to finally open the doors to our brewery. Steve was already thinking about opening a small brewery back in 2003 when we met while working in the same Saint Louis brewery. Although there have been many moves, the places we have lived and people we have met along the way have been life-changing and we are better for the experiences. Without a doubt. We are excited to share our beer with the city of Pittsburgh.

Spoonwood Brewing Co.
Spoonwood Brewing Company is located at the former home of the Montour Railroad. Over the past 50 years, the site has transformed from a concrete railroad arch to a restaurant designed from two railcars.

Today, both of those railcars are being repurposed as an attraction for a children’s park in Dubois, PA, and the site has been repurposed and redesigned to house our 15-barrel brewery.

The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company
The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company is a small craft brewery and taproom located in the historic steel town of Braddock, PA. After completing a successful Kickstarter, investing in some stainless steel brewing equipment, and renovating an old electrical supply store, we opened our doors to the public on May 21, 2014. We believe in beer as a medium for flavors, stories, celebrations and things that go beyond what is in the glass.

Drawing inspiration from both the classical brewing and culinary worlds, we brew an ambitious variety of beers focused on the balanced and complex. We call upon other adventurous souls to join us as we venture into the frontier of craft beer and strive to push the limits of brewing.

The Church Brew Works
The brewpub is located at 3525 Liberty Avenue in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The church building was originally built in 1902, and had been used as a church until 1993. Its doors opened as The Church Brew Works on August 1, 1996, after the building underwent extensive renovation, necessitated by years of lying dormant after being officially deconsecrated by the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 1993.

In 2012, Pittsburgh Magazine named it one of the best breweries in Pittsburgh.
