Best Large Wooden Cutting Boards

A large wooden cutting board is a must in the kitchen. Lots of people buy small boards but really a large work surface is what you need, so that meat doesn't hang off the edges (leading to bacteria breeding on your table) vegetables rolling off the board and onto the floor and giving you enough room so you don't end up piling hunks of meat in a tower that topples over when you take the board to the pan.
Mountain Woods Extra Large Acacia Edge-Grain Prep Station Cutting Board w/ Juice Groove
This large Mountain Woods cutting board is great for the price, it's fantastic. It is made of hard wood providing a nice cutting surface.

This is the only cutting board an average home cook should need. it is reversable (though only one side has groove). It is large enough to use it for every day cutting and even serving a roast on your table, yet still managable in the sink to wash.

The board I received is smooth and straight. It is easily worth two or three times the price amazon.com sells them for.

We tested nine cutting boards-wood, bamboo, plastic, and composite models priced from $22 to nearly $200-and a firm list of criteria. Best Rated Large Wooden Cutting Boards
Large wooden cutting boards are a necessary addition to your kitchen. Small cutting boards tend to skid around and you end up with food falling off the edges or piled up in a heap only to fall off on its way to the pan. The ideal size is around 20" x 15" as I find that this size is manageable weight wise, especially if you keep to around 1" thick.

But you need to choose a large wooden cutting board carefully as some inferior boards can warp especially if they are on the larger side. Some can absorb water and other can split and you also need a board that will not dull your knife blade.

Large wooden cutting boards are essential for home use. All too often people resort to the tiny little boards that skid around on the table. However not all large wooden cutting boards are created equal.

Here are some of the best rated large wooden cutting boards available today. I personally love the Proteak 20" x 15" x 1" as it is perfectly proportioned for ease of use, light enough to carry to the pan and has enough weight to prevent slipping on the work surface during food preparation.

Large wooden cutting boards are essential if you, like me, have a tendency to stack food that I'm chopping on on edge only to drop it on the way to the saucepan

Buying a large wooden cutting board can be fraught with pitfalls! Some inferior boards can splinter, crack, warp and are easily scarred (deep gouges can allow germs to breed). And some can be so heavy they are difficult to manage especially when food is piled high on them.
