Skincare doesn't have to be expensive. You can whip up some stuff around the kitchen for a handmade spa day. Here are some great recipes from around the net.
Oatmeal is so much more than a breakfast food. It clears off dead skin, absorbs bacteria, and is a strong ally against acne. For real, oatmeal is your best friend.
Facial toner keeps it all clean. This homemade toner is gentle enough for the before bed routine. Remove dirt before your head hits the pillow.
Coconut oil can be pretty expensive, but if you can get your hands on it, it's incredibly helpful. It's a great oil for your hair, an excellent make-up remover, and a cuticle softener. There are recipes out there you can add coconut oil to, but it works really well for plenty of things all on its own.
Smells like yum and works like a charm. Whip this cocoa body butter up today.

Seriously though, cucumbers. They're basically a wonder food, because they are good between bread AND on your face. Next time you're at the store, buy two...or three....well, you should probably get four.
*Cucumbers are also very beneficial for oily skin due to their cooling, astringent, and soothing properties. Also, the high vitamin and mineral content, including vitamins A and E, magnesium, and potassium, are good for oily skin.
Cut a fresh organic cucumber into thick slices, and rub them thoroughly on your face. Leave it on overnight and rinse with warm water in the morning. Do this daily before going to bed.
Alternatively, mix one-half teaspoon each of cucumber juice and lime juice. Apply this mixture to your skin, let it dry, and then wash it off with warm water. Do this daily. This remedy can also be used to lighten freckles and reduce sunburn *

Facial scrub is always a yes, especially when it's gentle and handmade. Scrub and dub dub, you can even use it in the tub (if you clean it after).
Herbal Facial Scrub
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup dried herbs (such as calendula, lavender, peppermint, rose petals, or a mixture of herbs)
Almonds, clay, or sugar (optional; use alone or in combination to total 1 tablespoon)
Directions:
In a clean coffee grinder, combine the oatmeal, cornmeal, herbs, and almonds, clay, or sugar, if using. Grind the mixture to a fine powder. (You could also use a mortar and pestle.)
To use, place some of the mixture in the palm of your hand. Add enough water to make a paste. Apply the mixture evenly over your face, avoiding your eyes. Massage the scrub gently into your skin, using circular motions. Rinse thoroughly.
Store the scrub in a tightly sealed container in a cool, dry location for up to 3 months.

Sugar scrub is pretty self explanatory. Grab a base oil, like olive or almond, then some sugar, and then your fave essential oil and mix together. Scrub it down and the wash it off. Then show off that soft sugar skin!
