Listly by Jaban Foisy
It was hard to make cuts this year.
1. Courtney Barnett - I knew as I was listening to this for the first time it would be my favorite album of the year. A lot of the top 10 was hard to place but this number one was easy. I love the witty lyrics and how they are delivered. I am a sucker for singers with unique voices. It happened to me as I began liking Bob Dylan then it carried over to John Darnielle, Conor Oberst, and now Courtney Barnett.
2. The dead weather - this albums rocks hard. It is jam packed with great guitar riffs.
3. Mountain Goats - might be my favorite band of all time if not it's close. I think their sound improves with each release.
4. Christine and the Queens - First discovery that came to me from a co-worker. I am excited for more discovery's from friends at my new work place in 2016.
5. Jamie xx - layered smart electronic music that is still very dance-able. let it soak in.
6. Nate Ruess - Fun's 2012 album might be my favorite of the last 10 years so anything that brings me close to this sound works for me.
7.Chvrches - At first I didn't like this one but it grew on me with each listen and now I like it more than their debut. It has a tighter sound.
8. Sleater-kinney- explosive energy matched by a tight sound.
9. Beach house - One of the first times I had patience to enjoy an atmospheric album. I listened to it every day when I started work for over a month.
10.Twenty-one Pilots- had so much energy and creativity that I couldn't keep it off of the list.
