Animals in Winter

BeginningReads support teachers, parents, and tutors in bringing children into reading.  Before children learn about written language, they have a substantial oral language word “bank.” BeginningReads are designed to connect children’s knowledge of oral language with written language.  The texts in BeginningReads make this connection by including many words that are both highly concrete and phonetically regular—words such dog, cat, and big. BRRR, it's cold in the winter! How do animals stay warm in the winter?  From a sleepy bear keeping cozy in his den to a playful puppy sporting his stylish winter coat, both parents and kids alike will enjoy reading all about the different ways animals stay warm during the chilly months of the year.

Bella the Dragon

Bella the Dragon is a classic picture book about the magic of friendship, the sadness of separation, and the joy of reunion. Bella is a special dragon with scales made of sparkling jewels.
