More industries are recognizing and refocusing their efforts on utilizing big data. Companies Accenture and General Electric recently released a report detailing new key insights on big data and its impact on marketing landscapes.

Healthcare Budgeting

The report reveals trends in the healthcare industry. Nearly half of medical institutions are investing between 10 to 20 percent of their tech funds on analyzing big data. This finding reflects the growing consensus among healthcare providers that analyzing big data affords both profitable and progressive findings.

Corporate Focus

Another finding discloses business corporations’ attitude toward big data. Nearly 90 percent of businesses surveyed indicated that purchasing data extraction software and harvesting big data is in their top three priorities.

Big Data’s Future Role

Of those that General Electric and Accenture surveyed, 89 percent believe that big data needs to be a principal strategy of companies. Those that don’t adopt this policy risk losing a big piece of next year’s market shares.

A Leg-up for Startups

Nearly all companies believe that startups that utilize big data stand to make big gains over other new companies. Over 90 percent of those surveyed hold that younger companies that take advantage of big data through data extraction are given a distinct competitive edge.

Shifting the Landscape

The topography of the business, marketing, journalism, healthcare and just about every other industry is changing. More than three-quarters of companies believe that big data’s influence will cause a quantifiable shift in the competitive landscape within their respected industry over the next few years.
