Listly by Natasha Hervatta
"I'm furious, but I sure as hell am not going to waste it on a tantrum. I'm gonna mine it, save it, and when we find Ward, I'm going to use every bit of it to take him down."
Agent May is an extremely intelligent woman who presents a stoic, rather uncommunicative demeanor at all times. According to Agent Coulson, earlier in her career May was a much friendlier person, prone to playing pranks on her fellow agents and generally happier, though still rather quiet. A tragic experience while on a mission in Bahrain to contact an unregistered gifted individual left May emotionally scarred and caused her to become the rigid, somewhat withdrawn person she is today. May is fiercely loyal to her S.H.I.E.L.D. team ,and more specifically Agent Coulson, and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Sometimes her methods appear harsh but this is due to her dedication to protecting those in her charge.
"Now Trip was generous enough to offer up some of his granddad's spy tech to help us out. We should systematically take a full inventory of ev... Oh, my god. Is that a handheld hypno-beam?!"
Coulson exhibits a "by the book" personality; and shows a great deal of maturity and discipline in handling very dangerous situations. He has an appreciation for traditional "things" like vintage collectibles, such as his collection of official Captain America trading cards and his 1962 Chevrolet Corvette, (which he named "Lola"). Coulson greatly values the members of his team; and often cares for the well-being well beyond the protocol and guidelines that have been laid down by SHIELD.
"Usually one person doesn't have the whole solution, but 100 people with 1% of the solution that will get it done. I think that's beautiful, pieces solving a puzzle."
A civilian new recruit and computer hacker, described as "bubbly and goofy" but "also warm, edgy and witty." It's been revealed that due to being an orphan, Skye has spent most of her life without much stability. As such she has developed a thick-skin, rarely trusting people, particularly those in authority. Regardless of how protective she is of herself, Skye often sees the best in other people. Skye can also become extremely loyal to those who earn her trust, in particular Coulson's team.
Fitz: "The bullets work. Non-lethal, heavy stopping power, break up under the sub-cutaneous tissue-"
Simmons: "Oh, with a dose of .1 microliters of dendrotoxin. I'm not Hermione. I can't create instant paralysis with that."
Jemma is usually highly enthusiastic and has a bright personality. She has a deep passion for science. She is also very accepting and forgiving. Being merciful is another of her traits. Jemma can usually be found bickering with her best friend and partner, engineer Leo Fitz, but they are almost always found together. They are so close, Jemma and Fitz are often referred to as Fitz-Simmons, a gestalt entity. Leo claims that she's so smart "because she loves homework more than life itself."
Skye: "How'd you two manage to acquire a body?"
Fitz: "'Corpsey Diem' — Seize the Dead."
Fitz is socially awkward; but despite his awkwardness, he gets along remarkably well with his research partner, Jemma Simmons. He appears either jealous or very protective of Jemma when he sees her with another guy. He remains convinced that Ward can be 'recovered' long after the rest of the team consider him irredeemable. He is somewhat clumsy and awkward around Skye and sometimes Simmons.
Ward: "A gifted that refuses HYDRA is a threat. And threats a taken care of quickly."
Skye: "That's the difference between S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA."
Ward: "And that's why HYDRA will win. Because while a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is considering right and wrong, HYDRA's already taken the shot."
Agent Ward is a gruff, anti-social man. He is talented in his professional fields but not as great at getting along with his coworkers, nor is he very skilled at interpersonal relations. Due to his training and questionable morality, Ward often tailors his actions and behavior enough to manipulate others into trusting him. This allowed him to work as a HYDRA agent, without nearly anyone on the team being tipped off, until it was far too late. He is fiercely loyal to John Garrett of HYDRA, the man who freed him, taught him how to survive and trust only in himself. Ward appears to commit crimes not out of loyalty to HYDRA or any other ambition but simply out of obedience to Garrett. He has few reservations about murdering people with whom he has little to no acquaintance, whether they are his enemies or other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Coulson: Agent Hill did a very detailed assessment of your last three missions. Combat, top grades. Espionage, she gave you the highest marks since Romanoff. Under people skills she drew a... I think it's a little poop, with knives sticking out of it.
Ward: WHAT?
Coulson: That's bad right?
Maria: [after Ward leaves] It was a porcupine. It was not a poop. It just means he...
Coulson: No, I'm pretty sure...
[Looks at the book]
Not much is known about Maria's personality. What has been seen thus far however is a hardworking, detail-oriented and highly professional agent, who seems to be very "by the book". As any good agent, she will of course follow the orders that are issued by Director Nick Fury, but she is more than willing to openly question his decision if she deems them too unconventional or risky.
Hunter: Subtlety is key.
Bobbi: You were dressed like a cowboy.
Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, is a highly-skilled, trusted agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the ex-wife of Lance Hunter. Bobbi Morse was a highly decorated S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, with a long run of successful undercover ops. One of these involved seducing Lance Hunter for intel, a scheme which apparently backfired on Bobbi, since the pair ended up married.
"Once we have Creel, I'll be in the wind - or three sheets to it." - Hunter
Lance is sarcastic and witty, and can usually be found drinking beer in-between missions. He often refers to his 'she devil' ex-wife, which quickly becomes an inside joke amongst the team.
"Damn, I must be getting old. Either that or I drank a lot more in my thirties than I remember."
John Garrett was a specialist working for S.H.I.E.L.D. He was Ward's training officer, and has a long, if not always pleasant, history with Coulson. Garrett's animosity toward S.H.I.E.L.D. stems from an event in 1990 during the Bosnian War. Garrett was wounded so severely that, in his words, "he had to duct-tape himself together," yet S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters would not send a MedEvac helicopter for him. Garrett's resentment led to his turn toward HYDRA if only to seek revenge on an organization that he now despised.
"When that plane touches down, take out everyone on board. Except Agent Coulson. He's mine."
Victoria Hand was a Level 8 S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. Hand was well-known to lower ranking agents and had a reputation for brusqueness and expected punctuality from agents under her, or even temporarily under her jurisdiction.
