OpenAccessPHL kicked off it's speaker round with Dominique Aubry, director of Impact Hub Philly. She spoke about how Impact Hub in Philly is a mix of social entrepreneurs, nonprofits and freelancers. "We are not the movement, we house the movement," she said.

Michael O'Bryan - Co-Chair of The City of Philadelphia's Youth Point-In-Time Count Coalition

Michael O'Bryan spoke about youth homelessness and shared statistics about youth poverty and homelessness in Philadelphia. He spoke about how the youth poverty rate in Philadelphia is nearing 40 percent and how 76 percent of youth in Philly public schools grades 6-12 are labelled economically disadvantaged.

Mo Manklang - Director of Operations at Generocity

Our very own Mo Manklang talked about how everyone is a #PhillyChanger and how Generocity.org is trying to share how people are making Philly better across neighborhoods.

Phil Pierdomenico, GIS analyst, & George Matysik, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, for Philabundance

Phil Pierdomenico of Philabundance spoke about how he illustrates poverty and hunger using maps and census data. The two also shared a map of food stamp use in PA that showed how hunger is everywhere and not just an urban problem.

Paul Wright of EveryBlock

Wright, the director of local media development at Comcast, spoke about Every Block, which he described in six words as "content and collaboration for a strong community." The project, which is funded by the Knight Foundation, was designed to highlight neighborhood news. In addition, the open rate for Every Block email is an impressive 51 percent.
