Top 5 Calgary Flames Captians of all time

Top 5 Flames to ever wear the C... not the flaming one, the other one.

1

Lanny McDonald

Lanny McDonald

But that stache tho! This guy played hockey before I was even born so I mean I don't really have much to say about him. I have had the opportunity to meet him though and he is a huge beauty. In his last season of professional hockey (89) he lead the Flames to their first and only Stanley Cup. And Lanny, Calgary is forever grateful for that. We will always be able to rub it in Vancouver's face...well at least for like another 50 years.

2

Jarome Iginla

Jarome Iginla

You (could) find Jarome chillin in the dome, he had his eyes on the cup but never brought it home. But really who cares if he never won a cup, Iggy did so much for the sport of hockey in Calgary his legacy is still felt. Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla (yes that is his full name) won the goal race in 2002 and 2004 and the Art Ross in 2002, he holds 2 Olympic gold medals and also lead the Flames to the the Stanley Cup finals in 2004. When people think hockey in Calgary they think Jarome.

3

Theoren Fleury

Theoren Fleury

Theo has been the topic of many discussions in the city of Calgary. From being the young up-and-coming stud, having multiple 100 point seasons, being a part owner in the Calgary Hitman, being subject to boos after he left the team, struggling with addictions, writing a biography, being a victim in the Graeme James scandal..... and to top it all off playing two games of pro baseball with the Calgary Vipers. Theo has certainly made his mark on the city of Calgary and for that he belongs on this list.

4

Joe Nieuwendyk

Joe Nieuwendyk

There is no other Flame who has a more impressive scoring record as Joe Nieuwendyk (aside from Theo). He holds multiple 90+ point seasons and set many club records, he also has his name on the cup(3 times, once with Calgary). Joe was a great leader and he is loved by Calgary fans, plus Calgary got a pretty sweet deal when they traded him to Dallas for #2 on this list....

5

Mark Giordano

Mark Giordano

He is still early into the job but that the way that this season is going so far it is safe to say that he has lead the flames from one of the worst teams in the west to a team no one want to play. As a member of the organization for more than 6 years he exemplifies everything the flames stand for speed, toughness, and hard work. He is on a point-per game pace and a strong candidate for the Norris in 2015.
