AAMI Park became Melbourne's first large purpose-built rectangular stadium. At the time of its conception the largest stadiums in use were the MCG, Docklands Stadium and Princes Park. These were all of oval configuration and best suited to Australian rules football or cricket.
There are so many pieces in this outdoor art gallery - and they change often. You can go back to the lane 2 months later and many pieces will be different. At the top end of the alley there are pieces by people who have become world famous.
I really love this area. It is great for breakfast, lunch, a light evening meal or just glass of wine. Not only is the atmosphere great but you can get a range of meals. I have never been disappointed. I also like that there is often a busker nearby to entertain you.
Up at the top end of Melbourne city is where Spring Street is located. This street hosts the lovely Hotel Windsor, the Old Treasury Building and Parliament house. These buildings are impressive, especially the front of Parliament building!
