These Men May Soon Enter The 20,000 Run Club in International Cricket

Probably the best all-round batsman in the world today, AB has raced to a neat 7,000 runs each in Tests and ODIs. A further 1,000 in T20s has taken his tally past 15,000. Rest assured, in about five years, he’ll be ready to knock King Kallis off his perch. He is one of the few people in the game to average in the 50s in both ODIs and Tests.

The monk-like Amla with the impressive beard and scary propensity to bat really long and really fast has raced to 11,925 runs. Like AB, he averages over 50 in both Tests and ODIs. When you combine Amla with AB, you realise why South Africa have been playing so well lately. Amla’s only 31. He has plenty of time to catch up with Kallis.

Only 26, Virat’s ODI career of 6,000 runs is among the most impactful in the game. His ability to win pressure games and pull off tough chases is second to none. But his Test record – 1855 at 39.46 – is not as impressive. If Virat raises his Test game to its next level, he would be India’s next entry to Club 20k.
