List of Famous Indian Bands

Now a days Indian music is highly inspired by western culture and their style of music. It is no longer just folk music, but a fusion of many genres. Indian bands are slowly gaining popularity in national as well as international music industry. Here is a list of such famous bands that have brought two completely different musical cultures and created their unique style of music. Make sure you add them in your must-listen list of artists. Indian Ocean

Indian Ocean are an Indian rock band formed in New Delhi in 1990, who are considered to be the pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India. Some music critics describe the band's music as "Indo-rock fusion with jazz-spiced rhythms that integrates shlokas, sufism, environmentalism, mythology and revolution. Wiki

Euphoria, is an Indian rock band from the city of Delhi, India. The Band is also considered the soul of the pop music wave which hit India in the mid nineties. The band released their fifth studio album 'Item' in 2011 on Universal Music India.Wiki

Avial Band

Avial is an Indian alternative rock band formed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India in 2003, which is known for their lyrics in Malayalam. Avial had their first breakthrough with the single "Nada Nada" in 2003. They are known for pioneering the style of combining Malayalam lyrics and rock music, which they call "Alternative Malayali rock". Their eponymous album Avial, released by Phat Phish Records in 2008, got them six out of seven Jack Daniels Rock Awards and Footprints Young Achiever's Award in that year. Bhayanak Maut is an Indian metal band from Mumbai. The band's name was inspired by a Ramsay Brothers’ Hindi horror movie of the same name, which it translates to "Horrific Death". Wiki

Motherjane is an Indian rock band from Kochi, India, formed in 1996. The band consists of John Thomas (drums and percussion), Clyde Rozario (bass guitar)and Vivek Thomas (vocals). Swarathma

Swarathma is a Bangalore (India) based Indian Folk/fusion band. They released their debut album on Virgin Records on 5 January 2009, supporting it with a nationwide tour.[1] They were featured on the Soundpad compilation of indie-Indian music that released in May 2009, in support of which they toured the UK along with three other Indian bands.

Five Little Indians

Five Little Indians (also known as FLI) was an alternative rock band based in Kolkata. Five Little Indians merged melodic rock and a heavier sound with singer-songwriter sensibilities. The band used Hindustani classical vocals and often mixed ragas with a rock sound.Wiki
