1913-First Film
Raja Harishchandra (1913) was the first full made film of India.
It was directed by Dada Saheb Phalke. He is considered as the father of Indian Cinema.

1931-First Talkie Movie
The first sound film of India was Alam Ara (1931) which was produced by Imperial Film Company owned by A. Irani. It was also directed by A. Irani.

1931-First Colour Movie
Sairandhri (1931) was the first colour film of India.
It was written and directed by Baburao Painter.

1960-First International Festival Award for an Actor
The Tamil Actor Sivaji Ganeshan was honored with Best Actor award from Afro-Asian Film Festival held in Egypt.

1975-First 70 mm Movie
Sholay was the first 70 mm film shot completely in India.
It was directed by Ramesh Sippy and starred by the famous actor Amitabh Bachhan. It had changed the grammar of Indian commercial movies.

1977-First Actor as Chief Minister
On 1977, the Tamil Nadu Actor M.G. Ramachandran had become the Chief Minister of that state.
Later N.T.Ramaroa had become the Chief Minister of Andra Pradesh.

1982-First Oscar Award
Bhanu Athaiya was first Academy Award Winner from India.
She was awarded for Best Costume Design in 1983 for the Movie Gandhi.

1984-First 3D Movie
The first 3D shot in India was My Dear Kuttichathan .
The movie was shot in Malayalam language and directed by Jijo.

1992-Honorary Oscar
The Indian filmmaker Satyajith Ray was honored with Academy Award in the year 1992.
He was also awarded with Bharath Ratna (The highest civilian honor of India).

2002-First Oscar Movie
Lagaan was the first movie which selected for the final round of Oscar Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
It was directed by Ashutgosh Gowrikar.
