Pixlr

Having a good cloud-based photo editing program for the Chromebook classroom is the key to creating a successful environment that allows students to see their own thoughts . Pixlr is able to unlock that volt. This key is accessable to the Chromebook, able to open doors similar to Photoshop. Students can reconstruct, enhance and change photos with ease, because the toolbars are basic and easy to understand – so simple, in fact, that I have seen first graders use Pixlr. F-R-E-E!!!

Noteable PDF

Notable PDF provides the best all in one solution as a free PDF viewer for Chromebooks. It gives users the ability to not only view their PDF files, but to also edit them. In addition, using the Share function allows users to edit the PDF in real time with coworkers. In addition, this PDF viewer works offline and integrates into Google Drive.

Evernote

Evernote is helping the world remember everything, communicate effectively and get things done. With a foundation on the Android platform.It's helping the Chromebook classroom with saving thoughts and ideas to preserving experiences to working efficiently with others, Evernote makes it easy to stay organized and productive.

Geddit

This is a great student response system for gaining valuable information about student understanding. Geddit, which is both a Chrome app and a web based platform, is a robust way to gauge understanding straight from the students themselves. Students select their range of understanding on a scale from 1 to 5 giving teachers a quick idea of who has understood the information and whether or not it might be time to move to the next idea. Since students give feedback about their understanding in private, and in real time, teachers can identify needs as they occur.

Movenote

Ever wish you could hear what students were thinking or trying to develop when they wrote a paper or constructed a lab report? MoveNote makes that possible by giving students the ability to add video and audio descriptions to their products right in Google Drive. The process is so simple! Once you select the document, and open MoveNote, the camera will automatically launch. Students can then begin recording additional information or ideas to their documents or presentations. BookTrack

This ingenious platform puts an entirely new spin on reading and writing. It allows students to create amazing ‘book’ adventures by adding background music to written pieces – turning reading into a completely new and fun experience. What makes it so innovative is that it allows students to add movie-style soundtracks to their reading selections. Students can then record themselves reading, and in the process, hear where they might need to edit their paper or add details. Adding music will allow them to bring their ideas to life!

BioDigital Human

BioDigital Human brings a virtual 3-D human body to life right on the screen of a Chromebook. The program gives students the ability to study anatomy and physiology by looking inside the human body. With this amazing new Chrome app, students can see inside the human body and grab cross-sections of organs, peeling away layers at time. Students can isolate structures or body parts and get instant information about each. BioDigital Human allows students to virtually conduct dissections and use the information to study and explore.

When you want to keep from loosing something you better keep it in your Pocket right. Pocket automatically syncs content you save from the web so you can view it whenever and wherever you want, online or offline.

This is definitely the Chromebook app to make Microsoft and Apple sweat. This app is online and offline, works outside the browser in its own window, very similar functions to iMovie with a simple twist.

SOCRATIVE

Students share their understanding by answering formative assessment questions in a variety of formats: quizzes, quick question polls, exit tickets and space races. Once students launch the Socrative Student App, they'll be prompted to join the teacher's room via the teacher's unique code.

Gmail Offline is exactly what it sounds like, an offline version of Gmail that uses a cached version of your Gmail data to let you respond to email when you are offline. After you compose a message and hit send, it will hold the email until you connect to the Internet again and it will send it.

The Numerics Calculator & Converter is a calculator for math and data nerds that can be used by ordinary people. It can work offline and it has a variety of options for customization.You can use function such sine, cosine, and tangent, and the app will even store your calculation history.

If you are like me, the quality of your workflow is contingent on the lists you make. With Wunderlist, you can create beautiful task and to-do lists that are synced across all of your devices, as long as you have a Wunderlist account You can sync your lists between a Chromebook and an iPhone, and share them with friends.

Feedly

Chromebook users who are looking to collect and digest content more fluidly should look no further than Feedly. Available for free in the Chrome Web Store, Feedly lets users aggregate the content from other sites into a personalized interface. Although Feedly is free to use, they offer a pro version, for $5 a month or $45 a year. Its been said that Feedly pro, "has better search functionality, faster content updates for smaller sources and integration with a growing number of useful services, including Readability, Pocket, LinkedIn, Evernote and Hootsuite."

Clipular

No good apps list would be complete without a screen capture tool. Clipular lets users clip images they find on the web, organize them, and save them to their Google DriveAfter clipping an image on the web, users can edit it within Clipular and share it on social media by dragging it to the icon of their preferred social media site. The tool saves the source link and text with each clip, and users can go back and annotate or search their clips based on source links or text.

ShiftEdit

ShiftEdit is an online Integrated development environment (IDE) for Chromebooks. Think about it as Wunderlist for developers in the sense that you can develop across platforms.The goal of the product is to give developers the same experience, regardless of OS, without having to install software or create site definitions.
